Smug Harbor- Very inhospitable to sailboats. I was informed upon approaching that the boat before me fueled up like 1000 gallons and it was implied that I was wasting his time. I was barely allowed to purchase fuel and though the water hose was right in front of me the dock boy wouldn’t even sell me any water. I’d advise finding another harbor to fuel up if you’re passing through.
The Breakfast is soooooo good! The coffee is just right and in a big mug❤️
Great atmosphere. Good food.
It is the everything tackle shop, and Alyssa is great.
The staff is always friendly and the food is always tasty! Conveniently located ATM for East Mantunuck locals looking to access cash without hopping on the highway for a 7-10 minute drive. Most importantly though, for me, this place is nostalgic/sentimental as a frequently visited destination of my childhood, where I would walk to on summer mornings with my little elementary/middle school friends and get breakfast by ourselves, which made us feel very grown up. They always treated us wonderfully and made us feel special, or like any other fisherman regular. We absolutely loved it. I don’t know if they still have the penny candy, but that was always a super huge highlight for me too as a kid, and I know that they have relatively a large selection of fishing & boating supplies in their shop.
It’s one of the only places, if not THE only place, that survived the coming of The Oyster Bar 🤢 and the tragic tourist trapification it brought with it, sweeping away all the quaint, local beach bum businesses, the paddle boating, & character and leaving nothing but hipster havens remade in its own resemblance & parking lots in its wake…
Snug Harbor Marina somehow managed to emerge unscathed from this unbridled, greed-driven gentrification that has consumed the neighborhood at the expense of its soul. So, as one of the last vestiges of the old beloved East Matunuck we long-time locals used to know and love, I would say the Marina is definitely its beating heart, without which the area would finally become the soulless shell of a shoreside, tourism-tainted town that small business-destroying developers have sought to create since the day they moved in with their heavy machinery and wet pavement.
