Tried this based on walking by, very nice vibe and kinetics. Clams were huge. Ate a whole loaf of bread with the sauce. Food so good.

This past summer, we got married in Colt State Park, then brought our families to Bywater for a wedding dinner. It could not have been a more beautiful coda to our day: the food was fresh, local, and delicious! Katie was tremendous, coming up with a menu that fit with our dietary needs and supporting us throughout the meal, even with last minute calls for amaro. I've been going to Bywater since it opened and it's always been the spot for a special night in Warren, RI.

Loved Bywater! Relaxed vibe with extremely fresh ingredients. We loved the peach jam cheese board, creamy garlic french fry dip, crispy fried chicken and buttery peach tart. To top it off it was dog friendly. Thank you Bywater!

Casual elegance that is so freaking inviting and low key that I had a hard time understanding why more restaurants aren’t this way. The reason is because everything in life just takes time to get there. And Bywater is there, and I’m sure it took time. Kind of Sonoma, kind of New Orleans, kinda Greenwich village, kinda French, kinda beachy, kinda country, kinda the exact place you wish was within walking distance of where you live but almost never is. The owner was kind enough to spend time with us and give us the inside scoop on so many things. Sunset here is remarkable. The food is playful and unpretentious and perfect. Loved it all, and we shall dine again!

Freshl Oysters were delicious! As always the clams in broth was spectacular! Unfortunately the service was far too slow.

This place is absolutely wonderful. First off, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The vibe on the inside of the restaurant reminded me of the Sonoma county area or more remote parts of the Napa Valley in California. Just the right amount of rustic and welcoming and polished.
The oysters were exceptionally fresh and presented well. I also had the Crudo as well as the shrimp, both dishes were delicious. They have a very small selection of wine on offer, but the wines that are selected are full of character and remarkably different from each other.
This is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in Rhode Island and I look forward to visiting often in the future.

Super cute spot in Warren. The drinks menu is terrific, as is the food menu! Got a few appetizers, all different mains, and it was wonderful! Their pasta was seasonal and delicious, seafood was super fresh, and the staff was absolutely amazing - kind and attentive. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a cozy spot for dinner!

Small place with a raw bar and neat outside seating. Small but interesting menu, great servers/service, and French versions of 60s hits playing inside the restaurant. Quirky place - definitely worth trying!

We visited on a Saturday evening at 7:30pm. They didn’t have the first two appetizers or two wines that we ordered from the menu. The menu was extremely limited, only two entrees and one of them was a pasta without veggies or meat. It was a rough start to the evening, but the striped bass appetizer (though had a small 4oz filet) was very tasty and the fish was prepared well. It came with a raw snap pea salad which was not balanced in flavor. The scallop crudo was evoo forward and I didn’t taste the seafood until the 6th bite. The Portsmouth oysters were fresh and tasty, but we have eaten them at several local oyster bars in town. We don’t too much money for how much we ate and the small bass filet which was the only thing we enjoyed. The menu when we visited had zero things from the menu that we had seen online prior to our visit except the bread basket.

So sorry that we missed Bywater when it was the restaurant that earned that JB nomination. No one would be nominating it now, that’s for sure.
Tonight they texted a few hours before to say they had equipment failure and were pulling most things from the menu. The 2 entrees left were pork skewers and bluefish. The smoked bass brandade was delicious. Pork skewers were good but basic. Oysters were good but extremely small, more $ than they would have been at Matunuck Oyster Bar or comparable places. They forgot to dress the salad, brought us some of the buttermilk dressing when we asked. Breads from the bake shop were very good. The bluefish was completely raw inside. Now I like my fish med rare or rare, also love sashimi, but bluefish just isn’t good that way.
Our server was wonderful-friendly, attentive. I felt terrible for her because she won’t be able to make a living if it stays like this.
We won’t be back.

If you're wondering what the Tinned Fish & Triskets menu item is it's literally a can of sardines and a hand full of crackers! Should have done better homework I guess. This one is off the list!
Update: Later learned that they lost the chef. Not sure who runs it now.

Where do I start? Only came in here because I couldn't get a parking spot to my favorite restaurant in Warren... decided to sit at the bar and waited almost 10 minutes before finally beckoning to the waitress/batender to get a drink order in. Place is small, loud with a limited menu. Asked if they made espresso martinis, asking that it be made with Kalhua and Baileys...I was promptly told they don't have Kalhua and Baileys but they have "homemade ingredients in the back that are similar." I was served a cold espresso in the smallest pedestal glass I've ever seen. Asked for some sort of cream ... waited for her to take food orders before fixing the drink. I ordered the fried chicken dish, which I expected to be fried chicken. It was a long wait for 2 pieces of overcooked chicken topped with a fish sauce of some sort (was not described that way on the menu.) The smell of the dish was so off-putting I couldn't eat it. And with the dull knife, there was no cutting the dried meat. Bathroom smelled like heating oil. Every time kitchen door opened, you got a whiff of moth balls. And bar smelled like fish. With so many better options in Warren, I am wondering how this place is even open. Full disclosure: They did not charge me for my meal.

Oysters were good but the service sucked. 45 minutes later we finally got oysters, but they forgot about the food we ordered and our server probably forgot about us to because she saw us twice during the 2 hours we were there.

It's a shame to see restaurants take a turn for the worse. Bywater is just that. Medicore service, No DESSERTS, and if you're hungry - I encourage you to eat elsewhere. Ordered their littleneck dish, about 8 littlenecks arrived. All the food was basic. Will not be returning.
