Since the new owners took over a short time ago prices have increased significantly, they upcharge for everything, and recipes have been changed ( gravy, sweet and sour chicken, General Tso chicken, and the beets) just to name a few things. Some of the clientele that serve has been going there for 55+ years not to mention the locals. If they would like their business to flourish they should not fix what is not broken. There were a couple of parties complaining while dining in a few weeks ago. I was also not impressed.

I haven’t eaten everything on the menu yet, but so far their food is Delicious! The staff here are all very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a small bar at the front of the restaurant near the entrance. And as you walk in there’s a booth style seating arrangement and you think “Gee, is this the whole restaurant??” But then, a few steps further into the restaurant, you see a whole other section and then you think “wow! This place is a lot bigger than it appears from the outside!” Their food is very delicious and you don’t have to wait very long to be served. And the prices are comparable to other similar restaurants, so you will not break the bank to enjoy a meal here with your family or friends.

My grandfather took my dad here when he was young. My dad took me here when I was young. And I will be taking my new baby daughter here too. This restaurant holds a special place in my heart. We’ve had many special events here, and we still love gathering here with family.This is a Rhode Island staple, one of the original Chinese restaurants in the state. The atmosphere is salt-of-the-earth and the walls have a history. The prices have always been reasonable and the portions are generous. Their food is the gold standard in which I base all other Chinese food. The nice thing too is that if you find a favorite menu item, you’re guaranteed consistency. Trust me: a family favorite is the veal cutlet dinner. It tastes the same now as it did decades ago, which is perfect if you want to share in memories of good times past.I hope you have a special place like Hong Kong Restaurant in your life, and if you don’t, perhaps take this review as an invitation to enjoy a meal here and make this place special for you too.
