Lived in New England all my life, driven by the Ocean House so many times, didn't know what I was missing. Eat at The Veranda restaurant ...you won't regret it food, service and views all spectacular

While the views are magnificent and service excellent, the food is mediocre. If you are looking for delicious food and cocktails, you will not find it in this 5 star hotel. Very overrated and underwhelming. There is no reason why this hotel should serve such bland food. Very disappointing. Not to mention the flies and wasps, one of which landed in our appetizer.

Although I still love the atmosphere of the place, I think both food quality, menu choices & service have all declined. Two last times I went I found servers less friendly than in previous years, menu not as varied & food not as good. An example would be the sides that they give you with a sandwich is no longer french fries or homemade chips, but instead a potato salad or greens which was ok. The server did split things when asked but not exactly friendly about anything. I've been coming here from the very beginning when they first opened and I've seen a slow decline. The hostess who greats you & parking attendants continue to be friendly & welcoming. I think the dining servers need to step it up a bit & the food needs a little tweaking with both variety & quality.

The food was mediocre. The customer experience was atrocious, the staff were not helpful and made it clear our experience was not valued. We had reservations for lunch and it was really terrible. I asked to walk around and options to go to the beach, first the staff agreed then chased us down to tell us we couldn't then back tracked and said we could walk the grounds. I've stayed at great resorts that would be classified with the Ocean House including the sanctuary on Kiawah, the Coronado in San Diego, the Belmond's Charleston and Santa Barbara properties and the ocean house was one of the greatest disappointments in travel.

Beautiful atmosphere! We needed to ask other waitstaff for black pepper and to order another drink so the waitstaff could be more attentive. The Arugula Salad was great with added lobster salad and the crab cakes were yummy! However, our stuffies were cold in the middle, which made us wonder if they were frozen and then heated in the oven. Considering the $$$ for lunch, we were surprised the chef would support serving cold stuffies.

Outstanding lunch! One of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. Great presentation as well. Service was top notch! Server very attentive! Been there several times before but the menu has been redone with some great new selections!

The manager came over and seemed to rush us, we had ordered several apps and drinks and were waiting on another party member who had a golf game that ran long. The manager asked if we were ready to order, we explained we were waiting but expected him in five minutes. He then just abruptly walked away. There were many open tables and it did not seem like our seat was in demand. In addition, we did not outstay our reservation time. It was disappointing for a restaurant that we consider a special occasion place.

Our recent visit to the Verandah Raw Bar at Ocean House was a mixed experience. The food was undeniably delicious. We started with the crab dip and tuna tartare as appetizers—both were fresh, flavorful, and served in generous portions. For our entrees, we opted for the Chicken Club and the Catch of the Day, which was snapper. Both dishes were quite delightful, with the snapper being particularly noteworthy. However, the service left much to be desired. It was sporadic at best, with long waits between interactions. We often found ourselves waiting for someone to check on our meals or drinks. After finishing our entrees, we waited over 30 minutes for our plates to be cleared. The bar service was also quite slow; when we decided to have dessert and another round of drinks, we literally had to track down our server. While the quality of the food was impressive, the service needs improvement to match the standard of the cuisine. Overall, Verandah Raw Bar has the potential for a great dining experience, but they need to work on their service to ensure a more seamless and enjoyable experience for their guests.

Absolutely lovely setting, with a view of the water and the hotel's croquet ground. The food was good but not revelatory. The service was warm and helpful. The prices are steep, but look where you are! Highly recommend the craft cocktails.
Good news they have new furniture. Bad news they sat us at one of the three remaining tables that my legs don't fit under. They actually turned my chair sideways so I could sit. Refused to move us to any of the new booths and tables because those sat four and we were a party of two.
It was a wonderful, however bring your wallet. Also, do not expect to take a walk on the beach. Heavily fortified..... for members and guests only. And you are not qualified to walk on beach even if you do drop $$$ for a lunch for two. Just saying....

Unparalleled setting especially if by the railing. Only criticisms are the price of the lobster roll ($48 and not exactly ‘loaded' with lobster) and skimpy cocktails. Still, great experience.

Just sad, service was slow, once waiter took out order a runner dropped off food, needed to hunt for waiter then couldn't find him for refills on beverages until it was time to go and get the check,

The Verandah has terrific, friendly, knowledgeable staff under the excellent and friendly management of Ken. Ken gets right in there and does the same work he expects his staff to do which is a sign of an excellent manager. The staff are so friendly and kind to our dog, Benny! Omar is terrific and we love to see him wherever he happens to be working! We also love to see Romaine (although until 2 days ago I kept calling him Dominoe-I don't know why since we have known him for a couple of years lol! He never corrected me!) The food on the Verandah is wonderful! It is my only chance each year to get my Stuffies!!!! We don't have Stuffies in New Jersey so I have to get my fill at the Verandah. Ken is always so kind and accommodating to us and we truly appreciate him! Thank you for such great food and wonderful people working in the Verandah! We love to see everyone's smiles ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The Verandah is a beautiful location overlooking the ocean. Our table was located about 40 feet from the grill and unfortunately the smell of grease was overpowering. We only ordered drinks and desserts which tasted good but were overpriced, even taking the view into consideration. Did not live up to the hype.
