I absolutely love Barnwell Caribbean. I've eaten here about 10 times and they don't miss! The sea food, the soul food, and the deserts all are perfection! This food is cooked with love and it's phenomenal!
Ok so, it was our first time here. We attended my daughter’s best friend’s funeral, after driving 2 hours. I was famished and couldn’t wait on the repass, so being a pescatarian, there weren’t many food options. We went here, I ordered the shrimp spud, my husband ordered shrimp sweet potato, and my daughter got fried flounder. When I got it, I smelled BACON. I thought it was just on my husband’s sweet potato that was the size of 2 carrots, but I looked at my food and there was bacon on my spud. Well, I CANNOT eat bacon, so I asked her to take it back. The menu did not show bacon as being put on the spud. Thinking it would be a while, my husband decided to share his food with me. He was already upset due to the sweet potato being in the same section as the spuds, he told her to do the sweet potato like my spuds, and she said ok. NOT ONE TIME did she say the sweet potatoes were MINIATURE. I got my food back in less than 5 minutes….still smelled BACON but not as strong. I moved the shrimp to find….BACON. They tried to pick the chopped bacon out. I got up, took my plate to the counter, and showed the lady what they did. She got upset and went to the back. She said she told them to remake it because I could have been allergic. I told her, “I AM ALLERGIC”. She said she would make sure they remade it. I told her I didn’t want anything from them, she apologized, and went back to my seat. My daughter said her flounder was a little over fried and bland, but she was starving so she ate it. The atmosphere was good, I liked the vibe and the music. They do need to work on not trying to send people into anaphylactic shock.

My husband and I eat here a few times a month. It’s close to our home and the food is great! Been eating here for years and never disappointed. The best crab legs I’ve ever had. I recommend Barnwell Caribbean often, and tell people do not expect fast food service, as everything is made to order and made with love….But definitely worth the wait. The owners treat us like family just as they do any other customer. If you’ve ever had a bad experience here, give them another chance. 👍🏼
