This review is in hopes of improvement for a hard working restaraunt capable of doing better. The oysters and chopped steak did not taste as good as the Lexington location, not bad, just not as good. The Lexington location is consistent and flawless. You can taste a slight wine flavor to the mushrooms and the oysters are fried to perfection, not so much at the BL location. Service is equal at both locations, unbeatable. Hopefully food will be better next time, we need good restaraunts around Lexington and BL.

I paid 50 dollars for one piece of fried fish and a cold baked potato. The potato was old. The okra was good. The carrot cake was good but not worth the money spent.

Wife and I stopped in today for late lunch. Kenzy was our server and she was great. I ended up ordering the lunch special and my wife had the Spinach Salad...both were very good and filling. Topped it off by splitting a slice of carrot cake. Was an enjoyable time out from a hectic day. Very good meal, service was exceptional. Will be back.

I liked this spot. Had a light dinner here. The southern egg rolls was probably one of my favorite things here and sets it apart. It's a solid spot and more than you'd expect to find in batesburg. Kind of wish there were a few cocktail options but there may not be enough of a demand in the area to put effort into that and if so, I totally get it.

A group of us had lunch and from the salad to our entree we all enjoyed our meal. Sirloin stake sandwich with a side salad was my choice. Someone else ordered the Buffalo chicken salad. He said it was good.

Very nice and quaint restaurant with a nostalgic feel. The menu is quite extensive. Since we were there for lunch, we ordered an appetizer of the deviled eggs. 6 on a plate with bacon bits on a lettuce bed. Very salty, not particularly tasty, with maybe some curry seasoning? Would not order again. We ordered Cobb salads because of an article in our local paper showcasing a beautifully presented Cobb salad loaded with favorites like chicken and in this case pulled pork. How utterly disappointed we were when our salads arrived. The pulled pork was maybe two forks of a thin wisp of meat. There was no chicken tender(s). Chicken was almost non existent. There was maybe one whole tender cut up into 1/2 inch chunks. Same with the avocado. Instead of 4 or 5 beautiful slices on top as they showed on the newspaper, there were just maybe a quarter of an avocado cut up interspersed in the iceberg leaves. Truly a bait and switch. Very disappointing. We also had a burger that contained a fried green tomato, some type of sweet jam and bacon. It was good, served with red peas, which needed more flavor. I would not return for a Cobb salad, but maybe a try of something else. Too bad I don't have a picture of the salad I received as a comparison to what was advertised in our local paper. Like night and day.

Down-home, family friendly, welcoming place to eat. The folks who run the cafe were super nice, very servicing, and wanting to please. Food was excellent, reasonably priced, and very well prepared. We live in Kimberling City, about 20 miles away, and we will be back.

This is a really nice location. Great to see a real restaurant in a small rural location. But there is no need to get all boojie about it . The food was ok but the prices felt high for what you receive.
