Breakwater Restaurant & Bar Reviews
We enjoyed a wonderful meal 2 nights ago! Lisa was our server and she was phenomenal. We ordered the Tuna Tartare and fried Oysters as starters followed by the Pan Seared Scallops and Shrimp and the Grouper Special. All perfectly prepared! When we return to Beaufort we certainly will return! Service, great timing in bring out absolutely delicious food. We highly recommend!
My compliments to Breakwater!
The staff of our local consignment shop had our Christmas dinner with them last night, 11/06. our server Lisa was considerate, effecient and fun. Thank you. Later last night I realized I misplacedy eyeglasses. I left a late night voicemail and this morning Debbie returned my call. She walked me through her search of the restaurant and was happy to help. I so appreciate her efforts.
For these two dear gals alone I'd recommend Breakwater....read full review
Excellent service!! We literally walked in off the street with no reservations, had just pulled into Beaufort. We were greeted by a friendly Hostess who seated us in a great bar booth. Our server Will was fantastic!! The drinks and food were delicious. our first time, but we will definitely be back.

Breakwater Restaurant & Bar offers consistent service with attentive staff, making it a favored spot for locals and visitors alike. The atmosphere is lovely, and guests often praise the flavorful, curated food and well-mixed drinks. The elegant yet comfortable setting in downtown Beaufort enhances the dining experience. Fresh fish caught daily remains a highlight, complemented by beautiful food presentation. Recent reviews reflect guests' enjoyment of dishes like the short rib, shrimp and grits, fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, salmon, and swordfish, all noted for being prepared exceptionally well. Desserts such as crème brûlée paired with delicious decaf coffee have also received high marks, with special touches for celebrations adding to the experience. While some minor issues, like extra charges for gravy, have been mentioned, the excellent service and impressive drink selection continue to make this restaurant a local gem worth visiting. The cocktails are noted to be excellent, and unique offerings like butter bean hummus have been described as game changers. The wine list is great as always, featuring a fantastic Albariño that pairs wonderfully with shellfish. However, some guests have suggested that the dress code could be more upscale, as they feel that dining in a nicer restaurant should not include casual attire like ball caps and shorts.
