The food is ok, however, it's a bit pricey. The bar is small with about a dozen seats. There is no happy hour. The restaurant is quite popular with Beaufort seniors.

Food was very good. We would probably rate a 4.5 if we could. I had duck, my partner had Mahi. Flavors were interesting and cooked to perfection. We rarely give a 5 so this is a great rating. Portion size was perfect. Glad we tried the place during our stay here. Acoustics make the restaurant a bit loud. Nicely we were seated at a table that was a bit quieter. Decorating, colors are very esthetically pleasing and calming. It is worth you visiting.

Was pleasantly surprised at the excellent preparation of the food. Starters tried were perfectly grilled delicate romaine Caesar, tuna tartare and My fellow diner said “pillows of divine fried oysters”. Lamb meatloaf, a new twist on a classic and it worked! My short rib was finally seasoned perfectly. I say that because for cuts like this that have to simmer all day, my experience has been overly salted dishes that remain on the plate because there is no other taste. Bravo to the chef who has found the right seasonings on a fall off the bone cut - though here the bones are removed. Excellent bed of spring onions and crunch from peas over properly made southern grits. Scallop and shrimp delightful in a sublime tomato broth. No desert for this crew because we were amply satisfied.Four stars only because the cocktail menu offered tons of terrific beverages for those that imbibe but for this NA drinker there were none. There are plenty of fine NA cocktails a good bartender can concoct and even finer NA spirits in the market! We will be back

Excellent dining experience. Two of us had the grouper special with corn risotto and Mahi. All the fish were fresh and prepared to perfection. The best Pimm's since High Cotton! Try Ginger was no Accident. Quietly spoken people around us added to the ambience.

We arrived early and were escorted to our table. The service was excellent as was the food. The noise level did increase as more diners arrived. The restaurant helped us celebrate our special occasion.

Decent dining experience. Unfortunately our entrees came to the table before we were finished our Apps and cocktails. We sent them back so we could enjoy our first course. When entrees were brought out again they were sadly only lukewarm.

Stuffed mushrooms were very good. The fried chicken was superb. Split the order to one regular and one spicy for the best of both worlds,

Our server, Mary Elias, was outstanding! To We started with the tuna tartare had the short ribs and tenderloin for entrees. Melt in your mouth delicious!! Great restaurant for a special dinner out.

We were very disappointed with the food. My wife had a burger which was under cooked and had a burnt bun. I had to send my tenderloin back because it was overcooked. The second one was cooked correctly and tasted okay. Definitely not worth the price they charged for it. We will not eat here again. I need to mention that our waitress did comp one of the appetizers we ordered which we definitely appreciated.

Very friendly staff. The soup came out quickly but the main course took over an hour to arrive. My wife got the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and it was fantastic. I got the Sirloin medallions with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The steak entrée was so-so at best. Disappointing after our last visit a couple of months ago which was awesome. We loved the quiet atmosphere and comfortable ambience at the restaurant. Less bar-like in the main dining room than most restaurants.

I would have given 5 stars except for the way we were greeted. I had this reservation scheduled for a number of weeks. I guess they asked where we would like to be seated. We were visiting the area, and not familiar with the restaurant so they said II requested seating in the front part, though I had no idea exactly what that meant. We were there right at 5:30, and there were a few people seated in the bar area at high tops, and booths. After looking in the “front”, and seeing no other people I asked if we could get a booth...there were several open. The hostess (without even a smile) said no, that I had reserved the front. She tried to seat us in a small table by a wall, but we went to a window table which she reluctantly gave us. First impressions are really important. This hostess might be better suited for a different job! It got much better after that. Our server was Katie, and she was excellent. My husband had a Filet that was grilled to perfection...and maybe the biggest piece of meat ever! I had Mahi which was also very good. One of the highlights of the dinner was the Grilled Caesar, very innovative and delicious! My husband had 2 glasses of wine, and I had a Margarita. The Margarita was served in a small glass rather than a traditional Margarita size...kind of surprised there, but it was very good. Except for “first impressions”, we thought this was an excellent restaurant!

I have been coming to Breakwater for a number of years. I realize that times change, but the menu selection was a bit small. I would suggest that if you keep the menu, you would also add the sides that could be added to compliment the whole meal experience.

We always try to eat here when we are in Beaufort. Never disappointed. Great food and excellent service! While it isn't quiet the noise level is perfectly acceptable as folks enjoy their meal and chat. Grilled Caesar is delicious! Portions are generous. We'll be back next time in town!

Our meals and appetizers were excellent. We split a salad. That could have been a larger salad for the price. But it was well done. Our server had great information about the restaurant and our wine selection. We will definitely visit again.

Although the food was delicious, the service did not meet expectations. Maybe they were understaffed but we waited way too long for everything. My husband got up twice just trying to find our waitress. We finally asked for the check before having dessert after we waited 20 minutes for a piece of cake.
