We absolutely loved our stay at The Rhett House Inn in Beaufort! From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by its historic beauty and the incredibly warm and welcoming staff. The location is perfect—right in the heart of the Historic District and close to everything we wanted to explore.

Our room was cozy, spotless, and had a lovely private veranda where we enjoyed our morning coffee. The Southern-style breakfast was amazing (we’re still thinking about those blueberry pancakes!!!), and the desserts in the evening were such a sweet touch.

The staff really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay, offering really helpful recommendations and always making us feel at home. If you’re visiting Beaufort, this is the place to stay—full of charm, comfort, and great hospitality. We can’t wait to come back!

The Rhett House Inn was the perfect spot for our family getaway to Beaufort! The historic charm of the property, paired with its ideal location in the heart of the Historic District, made exploring the area so easy and enjoyable. Our room was beautiful and comfortable, with a private veranda that quickly became our favorite place to relax. The breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious—think Southern classics like biscuits, grits, and eggs—and the homemade desserts in the evening were such a treat. The staff really stood out—they were so friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. We felt truly taken care of. This is such a special place, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

My husband and I recently got married in the garden here at the inn. We rented out the Newcastle house, which includes rooms 19, 20, a full kitchen and living room, for the bridal party to get ready in. The housekeeping staff did an amazing job with the cleanliness and service they provided to ensure we had the most memorable experience possible. The staff here is amazing and happy to help with anything and everything you could need to make sure you have the best time staying with them. Love, love, loved our beautiful stay!

I didn't stay there, I visited friends who were staying there. Everyone that I interacted with was very pleasant. My friends have stayed there numerous times, so it must be good.

Let me first start off with, we have been coming to Beaufort for the past 10 years. Sometimes twice a year and always staying at the Rhett House Inn. We so loved this Bed and Breakfast. Could not wait to spend our 10 year Anniversary here at the Inn. The Breakfast staff was beyond wonderful!!! They went above and beyond, love them so much!!! Food also was excellent, we could not have asked for better! The rest of the staff not so much! The cleaning girls did well with what they had to work with. The Rooms are so run down from when we first started coming here. Lamps coming apart, cabinets coming apart from the hinges. Bathroom door wouldn’t even shut. Standing water in the shower, I really hated to even use it, but the tub was the other alternative and with Jets being in a public Inn, hotel etc. Not happening with all the germs that make their way into the jets and you can’t clean them enough. Mold in the chalking in the shower also. I just felt like the room and bathroom just wasn’t clean! Room was so wet with humidity that all of our clothes smelled soured. The air conditioner never cut off the entire time we were there. I love the charm of the Inn and I know that is so important to keep this intact but the windows really need replacing. Dust/ mold on all the walls. Just very poor upkeep, which really pains me to say because we so loved this place but won’t be coming back.

My husband and I just returned from a quick anniversary trip to Beaufort. When I booked at Rhett House, I read the five star reviews and saw the photos online. The photos do not accurately depict the condition of the rooms. We were specifically in room 14 of the cottages. The room was very small and the bathrooms dirty. Within the first five minutes being in the room, there was a washer that fell off the ceiling fan onto the bed. Afterwards we obviously were not comfortable with the fan running. There were numerous other factors with the room that led to an underwhelming visit. There were wasps on the front porch, a huge crack in the door, condensation left puddles on the bathroom floor after dripping from the vents, the front of the tub was zip tied together, the rug was in filthy condition, and horrible staining and mildew in the shower.
When checking in on the mobile, I was given a code for the door to the room. Thank goodness the front desk called me and told me we would need a key and that the door code wouldn’t work. We had to hurry there to arrive before 9pm to obtain our key. The only security on the door was the keypad key. There was no other way to secure the door from the inside.

I will say that the front desk staff was wonderful. Penny and Shanon were fabulous! The wasps nests were treated and only a few remained afterwards.

If we were staying more than two nights, we would have checked out early. I would absolutely not stay here again.

Just a heads up to other visitors, there are a ton of stairs to get to the front desk and/or breakfast so even if you are on street level be aware there are stairs. Also, if you choose pancakes for your breakfast, they do add cinnamon to them as well as the French toast. My husband has an aversion to cinnamon so all his breakfast consisted of that morning was sausage.

Guests beware should you have trouble with your door keypad /code and can’t access your cottage after 9pm you will be out of luck . There is no emergency contact and no one on property after 9pm . My husband and I made several attempts with the code provided. We never gained access to our room . After 3 requests to speak TO a manager , aimee only communicated via email . Refund request denied and only resolution was a one night stay gc in which you have to email the manager to utilize . Aimee rudely stated in her email inn does have emergency contact but you must be in the room to get it which did not help in our situation. Beware this property has no process in place after 9 pm to help with access should you have an issue and will not refund you . Absolute lack of customer service . I recommend any other place but Rhett HOUSE Inn for your stay in BEAUFORT . By the way I left one star for room … never got access so I don’t really have a rating for the room.

I never review hotels or inns because they’re so “standard”. But Rhett House Inn is a step above. Heck, two steps above. Charming, beautifully decorated. Historic. And every amenity you would expect and then some - big thick towels(even a dark one just to remove makeup), full length mirror, robes, over bed fans( a real luxury in the South), over lighted makeup mirror. Cookies in the afternoon, cheese&crackers late afternoon, and a choice of desserts in the evening. Staff is great too! Will be our first choice when we visit Beaufort again,
