We were in SC for 4 days happened to notice upper room cafe oh we didn’t regret it . Real soul food fresh tasty , well deep seasoning food best fried chicken, fish , turkey wings in gravy with chicken rice , cozy atmosphere friendly staff great service I can go on best food I ate in Beaufort affordable I was gone forget the lemonade we had to buy extra to take with us to the hotel . Whenever I go back to Beaufort , SC I have to go back. The owner is very pleasant great informative conversation it’s we were home. Wish we could find some kind of soul food in NY

Absolutely awesome southern soul food!! Owner was a super friendly guy who sat and talked to me about life and his business...you have to go try the smothered pork chop and beans and okra with the chicken pilau! I'll definitely be back there soon and hopefully he does his breakfast buffet he talked about starting up!!

My son and I were riding and trying to decide what we wanted to eat. I saw this restaurant and shouted Upper Room… soul and seafood. Sounds like a place we want to eat. We both had the seafood platter. The fish and shrimps were very fresh and cooked to order. The fries were crispy as they should be. The owner was so pleasant. Wonderful experience and we will definitely be going back again and again.

I had fried shrimp and fish platter with fries and a side of Lima beans. All was excellent! Best shrimp I’ve had for quite a while. Crunchy flesh after frying, now that’s a fresh shrimp cooked properly. They said they’re local shrimp and I think so! Maybe slightly over-seasoned for my taste but still excellent.Fries were very good. Fish very good, again, appears to be local whiting, not frozen stuff. Definitely hand-breaded. Lightly breaded.Lina beans were homemade and delicious!

This place is just amazing!! The atmosphere within the restaurant is super cute and unique it's almost like your just eating on someone's home. Larry was probably the best host/server ever! Super sweet! Pretty much spoke with him the whole time I was there like as if we had known each other for years, he's just a great individual. And the food, well I ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture of my plate!! It was absolutely delicious!!! I had the shrimp with the black eyed peas and 10 out of 5 stars, foreal. I've been in Beaufort on a business trip for ten days now and out of all the places I been too this was by far the best, I wish I had been able to come here since day one, seriously would've ate here everyday no problem. Definitely a must visit, delicious all around. I even got a take out tray before I left for dinner it's just that good, I have no interest going to another mediocre restaurant on my last night here. Thank you Larry for cooking and sharing with the rest of us!!
