We first had lunch at Wren 2 years ago and everything was so good and so nice we couldn’t wait to back so today is Jan 2, 2026 and we met some good friends from Hilton Head we are from Charleston. When we got there peeling paint and dead flowers greeted us on the outside - the inside still cozy and we were seated - the restroom no paper towels so we told our server who said we are out of paper towels - our drinks came out promptly and we ordered - I had the Asian salad it was huge and looked like someone dumped a bag of salad added fried shrimp and dumped some sauce on shrimp - so disappointed- my husbands Ruben sandwich so skimpy on meat so he wished he had ordered the burger - our friends from Hilton Head said food was just ok - all in all so disappointed nothing like our experience 2 years ago. Won’t be back
Quiet date night. These portions are gracious. Grilled Mahi on grit cake. Well seasoned fish and cheesy delicious grit cake. He has bacon wrapped meatloaf and it dis not disappoint. Everything was great. My only suggestion would be sure to make your meal is staged to give you space and time to enjoy each course while warm or cool.

I have been here many times and enjoyed the food. My experience with their bathroom still disturbs me. There were no paper towel only 2 less than clean rags hanging by the toilet. I told the lady busing the next table and her comment was “yes I told them but they won’t put a roll of paper towel in there.” So I told the server and he said “ we had problems with the plumbing and won’t put paper towels in BR til we got it solved. He mumbled something about a blower.” I wonder how employees wash their hands and if they use those rags hanging next to the toilet. Needless to say, I won’t go back. I will miss their chicken salad!

We had a delicious meal at Wren. The smallish menu has a tempting selection of apps, salads and entrees. Hard to choose but the two we went with were superb. Very lightly fried flounder was placed on smoked sausage rice and topped with flavorful corn and black beans. Incredible. Best preparation of flounder I've ever had. My husband's pasta was a seemingly simple combo of shrimp, tomato, pasta and cream sauce but the flavors melded into even more yumminess. Can you tell we liked it? We were too full for dessert but I saw plates going by that made me wish for it. Service was good -- Matthew ably took care of us. Cozy cool ambiance with a rustic artiness to it. Make a reservation so you're not disappointed. Wren is popular and on the smallish side for tables. The convivial bar and large high-top tables in front draw in the regulars. Great spot.

Today, Black Friday, we had reservations at 1 pm after the historical carriage tour. BTW, recommend this tour with Laurie.
Wren was clearly understaffed, but my guess is people didn't make reservations so they were unaware how to staff for the day.
We were a party of 5 and we were seated at the rear of resturant at the round table. We had a clear view of everything. Plus the table was by the kitchen.
We, in amazement witnessed 2 wait staff covering the entire (full) restaurant while also greeting customers so not only waiting tables, but also doubling as the hostess. 1 bartender also pulling extra duty helping the team with tasks. One food runner and one table busser.
Our group couldn't have been more impressed with the entire team. They worked seamlessly together and with impeccable speed and accuracy to ensure every customer had what they needed. And, the most impressive attribute of all of them was their cheerful and respectful personalities. On a day that was stressful they maintained composure, politeness, and got the job done.
We can only imagine how many wonderful team members were in the kitchen, behind the scenes, crafting delicious meals because the food runner was like watching a combo juggler + track star as he brought dishes out to customers. Our meals were all delicious.
The table busser was equally impressive turning tables so fast it was like watching the road runner zipping in to clear dishes, then racing back to sanitize before new customers were seated.
I hope this review makes it to the management team, because all these team members deserve special recognition. Today, was a challenging day to manage customer expectations and the entire crew delivered a fantastic experience. Bravo 👏 👏

Our server was terrible. It ruin the experience. When we arrived at the restaurant it was empty. Only one other family and a couple at the bar (each of us had different wait staff). We saw our waitress 3 times in an hour and ten minutes. First to take our order. Once to drop off salt and pepper (10 minutes after someone else delivered the food) and then finally to deliver our bill. (I had to ask another server to our table to get the bill.) No checking on drinks, how the food was, if we needed anything... A couple who was seated next to us waited over twenty minutes to order. At that point our waitress had only three tables, approx 8 people total.. I had no clue what was happening. All the other servers were circling and checking on their tables. No need or desire to return.
Hands down the worst restaurant we've visited in Beaufort. I've eaten jerky that was less dry than the pork tenderloin. They wouldn't provide a tasting of a wine before ordering a glass. The flatbread appetizer was a plate of arugula. Server was clueless and clearly not interested in being at work. Table hadn't been cleaned when they seated us. We won't be going back and would advise others to not waste time and money at this tourist trap.
The food here was amazing. We all got something different and it was all very well prepared. They were short staffed when we went but all of the staff were so polite and fun to talk to. I'll definitely be back!
Great atmosphere. Quiet enough to hear each other visit. Food was excellent and Matthew (Server) was kind. The flounder had such good flavors mixed together with the excellent fish. Will come again.

Great place for lunch. The crispy Thai shrimp salad is my absolute favorite. I have never had a bad meal there.
Get the fried green tomatoes, you can thank me later.
