“Usually cookout is really awesome. It sucks to have to leave a generally negative review. The guy who gave me my food and change did not look at me, or talk to me whatsoever. And worse than that, I fell for the marketing campaign of the fresh watermelon milkshake, which is easily the most disgusting milkshake I've ever tasted in my life.
With that being said, my normal cookout locations, in Greensboro, North Carolina, are exceptionally well-staffed, and most of the food I get there is normally great. Maybe whichever City this is in just does not hold the same pride in their location.“

“Holmes Hotdogs and catering may be the best local restaurant you could ever have the pleasure of visiting. I first came here over a year ago and I knew then it was something special. If I had a friend from another country visiting, and I could choose one place to show them a true slice of what America should be, I would take them here without a second thought. Holmes has a small menu, and I believe it is perfect. Because of their small menu, I believe they are able to assure every single item on it is made with quality and care. They recently added a new item, the bird dog, to their menu. The bird dog features a chicken tender, pickles, and honey mustard on a hot dog bun. I thought the bird dog was incredible, and I'll be sure to get it again with onions next time. I would personally recommend their chicken sandwich, which is always piping hot and made to order, and their sausage dogs, which I personally believe are their standout menu items, especially with sauerkraut and onions topping them. Holmes has an atmosphere unlike any other restaurants I've ever been in, you can tell the owner and employees truly care about not just the quality of their food and service, but also the wellbeing of their community. I've never felt like I don't belong when I walk into Holmes. I've wrote all of this without even mentioning their incredible prices, which are comparable to other local locations, however the quality of the food, service, and everything else about Holmes is what makes this location worth so much more than any other in the area. Out of anything I've ever reviewed, Holmes has worked the hardest and consistently proved their 5 star rating, and I have no doubt if I reviewed them in another year, they would continue to hold it.“

“It was a 25 minute drive, but it was worth every mile. Very friendly people, family owned. Had the pleasure of speaking with the owner and his daughter. The food was amazing, it was prepared by his lovely wife. I had a shrimp platter and a hotdog with chili.. Normally I put ketchup on my hotdog, but this hotdog did not need any extra topping. I highly recommend 💚“

“After a full day of serving people myself, I wanted something delicious for me, my husband and my son. I got a side of chili cheese fries and a hot dog with ketchup/mustard and onions. It was delicious!! My son had the kids grilled cheese and fries and my husband had a hotdog plate I believe. Super happy with it and will definitely send him back on another night when this mama doesn't want to cook.“
