Very interesting place to eat. It's in an old train station. The atmosphere was really nice. It was very loud, it echoes. A lot in there with everyone's conversations. But very nice atmosphere. Decent food and great service.

How I've never reviewed The Eatery at the Depot is beyond me. I come here about once a week during certain times of the year for darn near nine years now. The owners and staff are incredible. Being the closest thing to fine dining for miles around, The Eatery is often packed to the gills with customers, but the kitchen and "front of house" do their best to make sure you're happy. 99% of the time, the wait staff absolutely has their stuff together. They're efficient, polite, keep an eye on your drinks and empty plates. There's that tiny 1% of the time where they're either training a new hire (who, by your next visit or two will have figured it all out) or they're super busy and can't help but try to turn your table as soon as you take your last but. Seating is limited and I don't blame them one bit. If you're the kind to linger, aim for the later seating, like 8 pm. If you absolutely have to be an early bird like me, TRY to keep in mind that there's probably a line of hungry folks waiting just outside the door. Don't feel rushed, just try to...you know...be mindful of others! Anyway, you cannot go wrong with the food here. My favorite apps are all tied for first place: dolphin (mahi, not Flipper) bites or shrimp fried to perfection and a perfect portion or the crab dip. Soooo yum! Dinner stars are 1) the Prime Rib, if they have it, 2) any of the fried seafood or 3) the filet. A note about the fried sea food: normally, I skip fried seafood, but theirs is SO GOOD. The breading is perfect: not too much, not too little. Sides are delicious and nothing complicated. My husband will get the mashed potatoes every time, but I love their creamed new potatoes. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the sides. Lastly, after you're stuffed from your delicious dinner, you might be inclined to skip dessert. Don't. I repeat: Do Not Skip Dessert. The strawberry cake is out of this world, as is the Ritz Cracker pie. Even if we're full, we'll order a piece and share it with the table. They have a small beer and wine selection - nothing fancy, but all very tasty! The merlot is usually my wine of choice, but I've tried all the available wines. All good. I'm grateful that this establishment hasn't abandoned its hometown in favor of fancier pastures. We appreciate The Eatery at the Depot, it's food, it's staff, and the fact that you can almost always count on the train passing by at least once during your meal. It is, after all, an historic train depot. If you're out this way, check it out any Thursday - Saturday evening. Reservations are recommended, maybe even necessary, too. They fill up quick and the line is usually out the door. So, if you're driving any distance, I suggest you make a reservation via their answering machine, leaving your name, phone number, requested time. They'll call you back if they need to change something about your reservation.

Well, we planned on the prime rib... and if you are as well, avoid Saturday. We were told that they sold out from Thursday and Friday nights. Our groups heart sank. The prime rib should be erased from the chalk board menu out front. We even brought their own favorite Horseradish. Salivating for prime rib. It was my first time there. We had appetizers, alternate selections & took dessert pie home. Service was on point & Swift. We also planned time for the museum. That was Closed. Local Christmas event was going on that was nice. #DINNINGWITHDARRELL

Hold onto your taste buds! I visited The Eatery and their pan sautéed scallops were a revelation - perfectly seared morsels of ocean delight, creating a symphony of flavors in my mouth. It's as if the chef whispered a secret to each scallop before cooking it to perfection. The scallops had me daydreaming of seaside escapades with each bite, and the ambiance and service at the restaurant only amplified the experience. If your soul craves a culinary adventure, make a beeline to this delightful restaurant for these scallops. Trust me, your palate will thank you for the indulgence!

What a wonderful dining experience! The food was delicious, wait staff and atmosphere was great. Tucked away in a small town that is charming. Only disappointment was that they did not have the prime rib (which was on menu) and were out of their signature pie!! The train museum attached to it was a bonus and the gentleman who was there gave us a great tour and info. We will be back!

It is located in Branchville, SC. We met some friends for dinner there who live in Branchville. Reservations are required. The wait staff were on top of making sure our drinks were full. My wife had the fried catfish. I had the prim rib, and both were excellent .We had the chocolate cake and the ritz cracker pie for desert. That pie was wonderful. There was a total of six of us ( automatic 18% gratuity added). The bill was around $200. Highly recommended the Eatry.

Wonderful place to eat. In small town, but food is just as fine as downtown Charleston, or even better. Their prime rib is to die for. Also listed as a five Star restaurant
