This was the best meal! I had the bream fried hard and it was done right!! Husband had the pork chop meal. We both had rice and beans with gravy and green beans. He also got the cheesecake. EVERYTHING was homemade and served with a smile. And everything was so clean! Can’t recommend this family run restaurant highly enough!

Tucked away on a quiet corner lot, this spot is truly a gem off the beaten path. The atmosphere is calm and cozy, with a smaller dining room that carries a real down-home feel. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the food hit the spot.
I ordered the fried pork chops with plantains, cabbage, and potato salad—each bite was flavorful and comforting. I had my heart set on trying the macaroni and cheese, but they were out (a sign it must be popular and worth the return trip).
The sweet tea deserves its own spotlight—strong, brewed just right, and country sweet. Honestly, it gave me that nostalgic feeling like they should have some fresh, cold Kool-Aid in the back, too, but the tea definitely held its own.
Parking is decent thanks to the corner location, and while it may be a bit out of the way, it’s absolutely worth the detour. If it’s your first visit, enjoy. If you've tried this place before, it's time to head back! This place is a solid recommendation. Don’t sleep on it.

I live in Charleston SC, but I don't mind traveling here. The restaurant is small but the atmosphere is homey and inviting. The staff have ALWAYS been friendly, and they'll come out to speak to their dine-in customers. This past visit, I had the Oxtails, Mac & Cheese, Rice & Peas and Cabbage, it was delicious!

We stopped by Southern Soul on our way south and let me just say Wow! The food is amazing! The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned and moist and delicious. The green beans are so tasty! My husband had the neck bones, rice with gravy, collards, and field peas. He didn’t leave even a tiny morsel on that dish - he ate every bit. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday dinner!
