I had a very unpleasant experience at this Charlie’s Cheesesteaks location. The staff was unprofessional from the start, but the situation escalated when I witnessed a worker touch raw, uncooked chicken and then immediately handle cooked chicken without changing gloves or washing hands. When I politely requested that my food be remade due to obvious food safety concerns, the worker became upset.

After already dealing with disrespectful behavior, I requested a refund and was then approached by the general manager. Unfortunately, she was extremely rude, sarcastic, and dismissive instead of addressing the serious health concern. Her attitude was unprofessional and unacceptable for someone in a management position.

The restaurant itself was not clean, and the lack of basic food safety practices is very concerning. This location is a health hazard and clearly needs better training, supervision, and accountability. I will not be returning and would caution others.

This was easily one of the worst Charlie’s experiences I’ve ever had. I’m from New York and I’ve seen my share of bad service, but this was on another level. I walked up to the counter and, one by one, every employee disappeared into the back—some of them even made direct eye contact with me as they walked away. No one said, “One minute” or “We’ll be right with you.” They just left.

The only person who stayed out front was the cook, who continued scraping the grill for several minutes before finally looking up. I asked where everyone went, and he said “one minute” and went to the back to get someone. After waiting a few more minutes, I gave up and left for Chick-fil-A.

I really wanted Charlie’s, though, so I came back—only to find that there was still no one at the counter. I asked the cook what was going on, and he said his coworker had come out while I was gone. He went to get her again. A few minutes later, she finally appeared. No smile, no apology—just an unpleasant expression like she was annoyed to even be there. I tried to crack a light joke to ease the tension, but she clearly wasn’t interested in any interaction.

I placed my order and waited. I then watched the cook put beef on the grill, even though I had clearly ordered chicken. Since I was the only customer at the time, I assumed it was mine and asked, “Is that chicken?” He looked startled, scooped it up, and set it aside before finally putting chicken on the grill. From that point on, my order went smoothly.

As I waited, the line started to grow, but the service continued at a snail’s pace. It was disappointing to see such a complete lack of pride in the service being provided. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this location unless there is a serious overhaul of their customer service training.

I just lost my step dad who was from PA and loved a good Philly cheesesteak. I wanted to have one tonight in his honor so this is where I went. I’ve never eaten here before but I’ve picked up delivery orders from here and every time I ask how are you today, the response is “better than good”. When I told the cashier tonight why I was there she grabbed my hand and told me she was praying for me, they wrote a special message on my box. They didn’t have to do that but they showed compassion and did. Many years ago I worked in a couple restaurants in a mall. It’s crazy busy all the time, staffing is usually an issue, and hard working staff often goes unnoticed. I’m not big fan of mall food in general but tonight, my food was fantastic and the service, well, it was way better than good!!!

I visited the Magnolia Mall today and I ordered a Cheese steak combo. The cashier was rude and cut me off twice while I was ordering. She then handed me my change and receipt. I eat my meal and the cheese steak was the worst the I have eaten at a Charlie's. As I walked around the mall I noticed that she gave me change for a $20 when I gave her a $50. When I when back to the restaurant, she had my correct change and a new receipt. She had the nerve to say that I snatched the receipt out of her hand. I will never stop at this restaurant again.

I went to charleys cheesteaks at magnolia mall, and i was greeted friendly, i paid 15.81 for food and i asked for cajun seasoning for the fries, it looked horrible and it tasted disgusting they added way to much seasoning and the lady making the bread ready she had dreads had a bad attitude she was tossing the customers food and was being rude calling them out, i asked for a refund i only took a bite they denied me a refund while having a attitude.

Half of your staff needs to be replaced at this location. I come in multiple times a week and see the same things. The final straw was me ordering my mobile order and the cashier being petty and telling me I had to wait. Made 2 drinks sooo slow and then still looked past me until one of the regular employees saw me and handed it to me because she knows me from going so much. That was enough to honestly send me because if it had been there the whole time , why was it an issue to pass it off to me ? This is your job , if you have an issue with it or being a people’s person maybe you need to look for a different job ! Please make changes !!

Side note- the girl cook with dreads is always super helpful and knows how to cook perfectly !

This would be a great place if the staff was a bit more professional. I see too much grabbing the phone, checking it while fixing people's food, and the cashier seems to be very lazy if you ask me.

Worst and unacceptable customer service. The staff (two ladies) already saw us stand there and ready to order but they would not take our orders. We tried to leave just to give them time because we thought they might be busy, but even when we came back, they just stared at us and simply would not take our orders.

We found it very rude. Why would they even open the store if they're not willing to take orders? We even told them we're ready to order and asked if we can order but they just stared at us as if they did not hear us. We were even delighted to know that there is Charley's Cheesteaks branch near us (we tried the Myrtle Beach branch and was satisfied) only to find it we'll be treated this way.

For this particular outing we ordered to go since we were already out but we normally order for delivery as previous visits the service was horrible! But they did have a different woman there this visit who was really nice, quick, and stayed on the cooks to get the orders out in a timely manner. She was still on her phone like a lot of the previous people but her attitude was much better! This was a weekend visit and they are typically busy so the approximate 10 minute wait was understandable. The food was hot and cooked well, I ordered a regular chicken teriyaki Philly with regular fries and a sweet tea. I also tried my mans cheese and bacon fries and we ordered mozzarella sticks to try. Everything was good to me, my man felt that the mozzarella sticks were artificial/under-cooked or both and he wouldn’t order them again. To me, if they were ordered for me, I could make do, but wouldn’t order for myself. We also previously tried the Cajun fries which were good - along with their lemonades.

Parking: Variety of parking as it is located in the food court of the magnolia mall, which can get busy depending on the time you go making it a little harder to find good parking

I was picking up a DoorDash order and I ended waiting over 10 minutes to be waited on and there wasn’t any customers and a old black lady with a short ponytail and long eyelashes came from the back she said hello I told her I have door dash order she demanded that I say hello but I told her had she come out 10 minutes ago I would’ve spoke so she got mad and slammed my order into the bags. As long as I live I will never come here again not even to pick up an order

I wish I could give this something more than 1 star. I ordered take out and they closed early due to storm. The problem was when I went in the next day. They didn't want to help me at all with my order the day before. I said ok, we'll ill follow up on that. I'll order today. They would not help me. They were more upset that I interrupted their conversation. I was the only customer. I shuffled done to next restraint in the food court and ordered from them. Being part of one of the largest employers in Florence... ill be sure to spread the word on avoiding Charlie's.

Food cold my food was up employees were on the phone instead of working cashier was very rude argued that I’m lying about my food being cold and that employee was on the phone in the front threw my bag on the counter and stated I’m not giving you the chance to take out of my hand .. definitely reporting to corporate
