Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

While I've been to various Cracker Barrel locations over the years, I had never gone for a holiday. Along with some family, I decided it might be a good place to enjoy our Thanksgiving meal this year. I reviewed their website and called ahead to find out what to expect. Menu showed a limited Thanksgiving menu, which looked perfectly fine, and staff at the restaurant said wait time would likely be 30-45 minutes and we could add our name to the list via the web while we were en route.

We did not end up getting on the list in advance, and arrived at 2pm on Thanksgiving Day. The store side was bustling, but we were directed from the doors back to near the hostess stand where staff with a tablet quickly added us. We were told wait time would be about 35 minutes.

While we waited we stood outside on the "porch" area chatting. 30-35 minutes later I received the text our table was ready and we were promptly seated.

To start, our table enjoyed sharing a pitcher of their winter fruit mimosa, which was delicious, and even contained edible glitter!

The menu seemed to contain a few more options than I saw online. My sister and I ordered the traditional Thanksgiving meal, my daughter the fried chicken plate with sides. The Thanksgiving meal came with pumpkin pie, which we were too full to eat but took to go. They don't do many substitutes on Thanksgiving Day, but were kind enough to allow me to sub regular mashed potatoes for the sweet potatoes with pecans, as I have a severe pecan allergy.

Our server was pleasant and attentive and drinks and meals arrived quickly and at proper temps.

Overall it was a very nice option for a low effort and relaxing holiday meal, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this option to anyone looking for the same on a holiday!

I never realized that Thanksgiving Day is probably the busiest day of the year for this franchise. There was an hour wait for a table when I arrived at 4:30. I kind of figured I'd be the only one there with a skeleton crew. But not so. The fried turkey was delicious, but the sides (hash brown casserole and sweet potato casserole) were both mediocre at best. Something was missing in both. I know this because I've had both of them before and they were delicious. And the portions were very small. I get that, because of the huge crowd they had they probably didn't want to overserve and run out of anything. The biscuits and cornbread were outstanding as usual. Could not have asked for a better waitress (Jessica). I was just grateful that they were all there so that I can have a good Thanksgiving day meal.

You really expect the food to hit the spot or at least be nostalgic went to one in PA so I know what quality can be from this corporation but even though the food was warm it tasted terrible. This location is not it.
