We found it when leaving Congaree National Park having searched in our GPS car map system for 'BBQ nearby'. It was one small building set alone and we wondered whether to enter or not. We did and it was one of the best dining decisions we made on our entire trip. In fact my two sons asked to return there the next evening. Great happy staff. Large filling portions. The real thing - home style BBQ made by a truly local family.

Wrapped up my first visit to Congaree and having not eaten all day, decided to stop at a local spot before getting back on the road.
Spoke to two gentlemen in line ahead of me who said I wouldn't be disappointed by anything I ordered but recommended the hash specifically.
Got the Big T plate which was hash over rice, pulled pork & choice of side, which for me is always Mac & cheese.
The hash didn't look like much, but was surprisingly good and full of flavor. The mac wasn't overly cheesy but also had good flavor. Both of these dishes would be worth returning for.
My least favorite was the pulled pork, served with a mustard sauce, which I typically enjoy. The texture was just a little mushy for my liking.
Overall I'm glad I stopped in and was able to support a local business.

Big T's is a staple of the east side of Columbia. Great mustard based BBQ, sweet tea that you can stand a spoon up in, and don't sleep on the fried chicken. Love it!

I went here because I was visiting Congaree National Park, and I am glad I made the choice to eat dinner locally. Customer care was great, the service was fast, and most importantly, the food was delicious. I had never tried hash before, and it was such a treat! Also, the pulled pork and macaroni are absolutely scrumptious. I would eat here again.

I and my family have been eating Big T'S barbecue for years. If you want a darn good meal for a reasonable price this is the only place to go will not regret it. The barbecue melts in you mouth and the mustard base sauce is the perfect addition. They have a wide selection of food and it's all good ?
