We walked in at 8:05 and the hostess’s first response was we close at 9. I said is it a problem? She wavered and sat us. We ordered drinks, took 15 minutes while the bartender talked with 2 customers and ignored the drink ticket. We had the risotto with marinara sauce on it. It was inedible and tasted like it was microwaved out of a pouch. Also had beef tips mashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were also microwaved from a bag and the broccoli was definitely frozen and had a lot of stalk pieces in it. The steak tips were ok. Very expensive, cafeteria quality food. Our waitress was super nice. Used to be our favorite place, we will not go back.

The prime rib and smothered pork chop were excellent! Sat inside. Waited 1/2 hour for our appetizer and one hour for entrees after ordering. Come early if you have tickets for a player/production immediately following.

We made a 6 person booking a month in advance only to arrive at an empty restaurant and told to pick our table. We were presented with 6 copy papers which we sorted to be 3 two-page limited dinner menus We queried the menu and was first told it was a one-off night and later told that it’s been this way for a few months. The complete amazing menu which remains on their website is just a tease. As we had a show to attend in two hours, we opted to stay. Huge mistake. The best of the menu was steak tips with mashed potato and veg. We were advised the veg was peas and CELERY which brought snickers to the table. We asked that the veg not be included on our plates but was told it was part of the meal and can’t be taken off. We ordered our drinks which arrived in an erratic fashion except for one turned up at the table mid service. The steak tip dinners were 6 dry bite-size pieces of meat served with a pool of thin watery mashed and peas with CORN dropped onto the center of our table for us to collect individually. Our server then promptly abandoned us and only reappeared to give us our bill. It was an experience that will talked about for a LONG time.

Came in last night for dinner and we were not disappointed. Sat at the bar. I had the burger, wedge salad and side Mac n cheese. All were exceptional. The menu had so many good things it was hard to choose. Husband had the meatball a grits and it was very good!!

We were disappointed in the limited menu, but completely understood the reasoning. We ordered with optimism anyway.

Appetizer: Brussels sprouts. Hard/way undercooked. We sent them back for a re-do. Came out pretty much the same. Does nobody know you have to blanch them first? Flavor was good, but they were inedible.

Main course: short rib was fatter than acceptable. We know short rib varies, but I wouldn't have allowed this serving to leave the kitchen. Easily 75 percent fat.

Ribeye was maybe 1/2 inch thick. The thinnest ribeye I have ever been served. Thin enough that my medium rare was medium well.

80 dollars for a Denny's-quality dinner is what this amounted to
to, and I'll wager that Denny's corporate standards would have at least corrected the cooking issue.

Manager was extremely nice. Server was ok, but really didn't seem to want to talk to us after the sprouts fiasco, and checked back on us only as we were finishing. She was super attentive to the table next to us, who by the way were allowed to order hamburgers. We paid and left.

We know everyone was probably tired from the boat show, but the overall experience was pretty terrible.

I visited Root on Saturday with my son and his fiance. They are by far one of the nicest restaurants I've been to in a while. Very clean, friendly, accommodating, and the food was top tier delicious. I highly recommend this place for any occasion.

Best place in Georgetown for a great handcrafted meal and experience. Josh is an excellent manager that really cares about the quality of the restaurant. The bartender Caroline is extremely fun, attentive and gives craft cocktails a whole new meaning. Great atmosphere and great food. Must stop when visiting Georgetown, SC.

We used to love this place, but things had started to fall off. We heard it had new management so we went for our 20th Anniversary and have to say it was FANTASTIC! Our server, Rebecca, was excellent providing the perfect amount of contact and timing our courses impeccably. We did not feel rushed at all, and also did not have to wait for food. The mussels appetizer was perfectly done, as were our steaks. Quality of food, presentation, bar service were all completely on point. Well done all around. Thanks all!

My husband made a reservation for my birthday and when we got there there were 2 booths open. We requested the one in the back and told we couldn't sit there because they reserve it for the owners when they come in. (Are you kidding me ?) Finally she went and asked someone and seated us there.
It was a Monday night and there are not many restaurants open on Front St.
We ordered drinks, appetizers and our meals. I would say the food was ok. I ordered the short ribs and it looked like a bowl of mashed up pot roast. I have never seen such a horrible presentation of short ribs before. My husband had the small plate filet and it was very good.
One of my issues is the high prices of this restaurant and they had cafeteria grade china dishes, mix-matched flatware, and paper napkins!!
$12 each for a glass of house wine and a mixed drink. $16 for a cream cheese and fig appetizer and paper napkins!
So after the whole evening we were not offered dessert and after telling the waitress and when the reservation was made, there was no birthday dessert, which is why we were there to begin with.
This restaurant just changed management and I don't see it getting any better than it was with the previous owners. Although, the staff seems happier.

My mother and I came here for dinner, and it did not disappoint! We got there at around 4:30 and were seated immediately. The service was wonderful and they were very accommodating. We got drinks and the bartender, Josh, did a wonderful job and got them out quickly. My mom got the grouper & shrimp special and wanted the grouper blackened but the shrimp fried-which they usually don’t do- but our server (Rebecca) told us she would try and get it done, and she did! All aground great experience.
