We were there for a birthday celebration. Our server was very young and quite didn’t know her job. No complimentary dessert for our birthday boy. Interesting. Sad.

Don’t waste your time and patience here.

Unfortunately I have to leave a negative review. (tldr: waited over half an hour to even be acknowledged)
We were very excited to try Root, and have been since it opened. We had reservations and were seated immediately, ready to spend a couple hundred bucks on some good food. We sat for ~35 minutes. No one looked at us, no one came over, no one talked to us. We waited so long with some sort of hope. Eventually we decided to patronize another restaurant that we know and trust. I am so sad that it went this way.

My husband and I went there tonight for dinner. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. The host, GM, and server we met tonight were amazing. They were very friendly. The food was so delicious!! We will definitely be going back! ☺

We had the beef short rib sliders which were absolute perfection! We also had the fried green tomatoes and calamari. We sat at the bar and Mac was our bartender. Great guy. Great conversation. We were there earlier in the evening so it wasn’t very busy but the atmosphere was great.

This place literally serves reheated frozen meals and canned goods for a premium price. Somehow, throwing out haphazardly on a plate a quarter of a Great Value can of
green beans, half a pouch of Idahoan mashed potatoes powder and half a tray of a frozen Hungry-Man dinner took 45 minutes and was all at room temperature, at that. Luckily for them, I was too humiliated at the time to take a photo of the inedible disgrace of a dinner. Hospitals and cafeterias serve better food. I wouldn't feed what they serve to a dog.

This restaurant is going downhill real fast if they don’t hire a real chef. What is coming out of the kitchen is not from a trained chef or even a chef at all..My husband and I started with the crispy Brussels sprouts appetizer that were over salted I had to send back immediately. The waitress came back to say it was the ponzu sauce that made them salty and basically gaslit me..I told her absolutely not, I love ponzu and that the salt was all throughout the sprouts and so we changed the appetizer to the meatballs with grits..the meatballs were dried out and burnt on the bottom. The whole dish sitting on top of grits with tomato sauce and a piece of dried out burrata was so odd and bad tasting..burrata should be soft and gooey.
My entree was the lemon caper salmon. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING…it was not baked nor sautéed but rather deep fried!! Salmon is already so oily that my first bite turned my stomach it was so greasy, I didn’t eat my dinner at all. The waitress knew it and just asked me if I wanted a box to go..there was also zero lemon anything but capers thrown on this dish. The veggies on the side were also over salted. I loooove seasoning but this person cooking must be marinating/brining things in salt water then seasoning again with more salt.
Hubby had a steak that was a tremendously fatty cut (about 1/4 he cut off of fat) but he was hungry and just ate it. Waitress had also charged us for the sprouts and had to fix that whole ordeal after we paid and realized it as we were getting ready to leave. She didn’t really seem sincere about her mistake and I believe she assumed we wouldn’t catch it. DO NOT GO HERE! They are definitely struggling to pay a good chef/wait staff to keep things afloat. Too expensive for this quality and service.

Arrived an hour after opening for dinner
Salmon was raw, Ran out of bread, We were told that there were no steaks or ribs available and a table next to us got ribeyes after we ordered.

Where do I start. We arrived at this restaurant a party of four on Saturday Memorial Day weekend at 5:00 to celebrate our anniversary. Our server approached us and right off the bat told us they were out of eight menu items most were dinner items that we had already decided we wanted before we arrived. We ordered some appetizers, salads and dinner items and nothing came out the way it should have because the server put everything in at the same time.

As disorganized as this place was and lacking food items early, on a holiday weekend was surprising to me being in the hotel restaurant business myself. When the manager Josh approached our table to see how things were going we shared our disbelief. Our meals did come and to their credit probably some of the best food I've ever had. The manager was nice enough to discount our bill and offered to have us come back which was a nice gesture. Despite the ups and downs I would have normally given this place a five, but because of the service and lacking major food items I only gave it three stars.

I only wish the best for this restaurant and hope they make adjustments with their service staff and meal preparation.

Last night in town and visited Root! We ordered cheese curds which were over the top so those are going home! We both got specials; my wife went for pork chop and I went for scallops! Both delicious and bountiful! Food this week has been great!

Interesting side story; we went on trolley tour today, more about that later, and we were telling bartender about it and how great it was! He mentioned that owner of it was sitting at bar so we asked him to pass along our compliments. He did and owner came over and thanked us and told us story about ownership!
Our server was efficient and entertaining, Shekia, along with the bartenders Joshua and Mac who made great drinks and made our night great!
