Our waitress tonight, Jane, gave the best service I have ever had. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and her recommendations were spot on. I had the best crab cakes and the key lime pie presentation and taste ended the night perfectly!

Loved my experience dining with our family. Service was impeccable - the food and drinks kept coming! Atmosphere is so fun! A huge thank you to our waitress, Jane for taking such great care of us! Favorite items: shrimp & grits, crab cakes and red drum. Definitely order dessert!

Truly a fantastic experience from start to finish for a family birthday dinner. Service was impeccable and our server knew her menu very well, steering and guiding us in the right direction for entree choices. We showed up with ideas for appetizers and weren't disappointed in either the cornbread with the honey butter (so soft and with just the right amount of sweet) or the mussels, which were some of the best I have had. Our server also brought us the Fried Blue Crab Fingers and the remoulade with them was absolutely spot on.

Our entrees were the scallops which are a slightly smaller portion, but delectable. Next was the Flat Iron, perfectly cooked at medium temperature for our taste.
The Shrimp and Grits were a backup choice for one of us, but our server again cued us here, letting us know it was one of her favorite dishes and others as well. They were light and fluffy and packed with flavor. Lastly, the Red Drum was a highlight as well, having replaced the Flounder.

Dessert was Mile High Key Lime Pie, home made vanilla ice cream and a newer dessert for fall with apple, cinnamon and vanilla ice cream that was like fall in your mouth! Oh and even the espresso was really delicious and I am saying this after having just gotten back from Italy 2 weeks ago.

It is a little loud in the restaurant, but not nearly as bad as some other reviews made it out to be, though it was only about 2/3 full that evening since we were an earlier seating. You can make a really fun evening out of the experience though for sure and don't forget the outdoor bar at the back of the hotel, esp. about sunset!

Drove 5 hours to have dinner with our son and daughter in law for son’s birthday last evening. Reservation’s for 8pm. Arrived at 7:50 and were told the reservation before us was late so they moved our reservation back 1.5 hours to 9:30. Absolutely ridiculous…why was the late reservation not told they could come back at 9:30? We were looking forward to experiencing this restaurant for the first time and enjoying the birthday celebration…won’t have to worry about moving our reservation in the future…

Showed up at 7:55 for an 8pm reservation only to be informed the party before me was 1.5 hours late so my reservation had then been pushed back 1.5 hours as well. I only had a party of 5! Mind blowing to be honest.

While staying at the George Hotel I have frequented this establishment a few times and Kim the bar tender and server did a wonderful job. She had a positive attitude and was well informed on the cuisine and mixology. The food was great and the service was even better. Thanks Kim!

We celebrated my husband's 80th birthday and, true to form, The Independent took care of everything. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary there in March so I knew it would be a wonderful experience.

Francisco was a great host and can make a delicious martini! Chef made me an accommodation and cooked me Scallops and Grits! You should put on menu as they were amazing. Will make it a point to come back anytime I am nearby- keep up the good work!

Fabulous food and service. The Blackened Red Snapper was among the best I've ever had. It was so good that I asked to let the Chef know personally. The Management here is great. All are obviously happy with where they are working, which filters down to the guests making an even better experience. I could not have picked a better restaurant to celebrate our Anniversary. We will definitely return.

We were there to celebrate our anniversary. The bartender/waitress Kim was great. We had a nice booth in a corner in the bar area so it was very quiet. The food was just fair so that made it extremely overpriced. My filet was $50 and adding lobster to it made it $85. For that price you would expect something wonderful. I make filet at home all the time so the piece of filet didn't seem to be 8oz as advertised. Also for $35 extra the lobster was a joke - maybe it was a 3 oz piece. They put the butterflied lobster piece on top of the filet piece and then put a very salty sauce over the top. My husband had the fish of the day which was overcooked. I had a Cesar salad which was overdressed and was supposed to have a coddled egg. The waitress told me how great it was mixing the running egg with the salad. The first salad came out with the egg hard boiled so the salad went back. The second wasn't much better. The waitress could tell it wasn't right again took it off the bill. All in all a disappointing experience.

One side of the restaurant was extremely loud so we moved to the other side where it was much better. Service was good but food was just so-so, nothing special. Overall a bit disappointed. Frank's nearby was much better and a little less expensive.

Great food, great service, fantastic servers. Loved their recommendations and everything was fresh and delicious. It was extremely loud due to a birthday party, but servers were kind and kept apologizing and offering to move us. I would definitely come back for the food!

We went to the Independent to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Everything right from the greeting when we arrived was special. We had liver pate, crab fingers, and she crab soup for appetizers, all of which were outstanding. For dinner we had crab cakes, blackened flounder and flat iron steak. All were cooked to perfection and the flavors were sumptuous. We of course had to have dessert: hummingbird cake, key lime pie, and chocolate ganache cake (we each took half of the dessert home!) Our server Jenn and the manager (didn't get his name) paid great attention to everything we needed! This is a special addition to Georgetown and we highly recommend the Independent.

We did not have a good experience. The place was empty except for one person that they sat us next to at our assigned tiny table. They moved us. The coke was flat. They had no raw oysters. My husband's food came out cold. They had no regular coffee. My drink was good and my entree was good as well as my dessert. They were nice and apologetic but it didnt help the over all lack of being a place we would ever go back to. I hope they improve.
