Had their big rib dinner again today and there was so much meat on the ribs and the beans and slaw are so tasty. I am from Oklahoma and have ate at many BBQ places and I have to give the award for the best ribs I've eaten so far in my life Kudos to Sweatmans for the all around great food. πππππ

Cool looking place
Nice touch on a rib and skin being with the plate.
Rice was about 10 minutes short of being done but decent hash. Sauces were OK. Glad we tried it.

Stopped by on July 4th and the food and service was outstanding.
Recommended dishes: Small Pulled Pork Plate
Nostalgic place that has a true Southern look. Counter service order and they bring it to your table. Pulled pork and ribs are very good. Only ordered green beans as a side and did not try any others. True SC style with the mustard base.

Since 1977 when Sweatman's barbeque opened they are still making some great bbq chicken, ribs and pulled pork with friendly service and good sweet tea!

Take out portions are much to be desired, kind of on the slim side, especially the large plates.

Years ago we pinned this place on the map after watching No Reservations. (RIP, the good man Bourdain). Today we detoured off I-95 to make a pilgrimage.
I cannot overstate just how exceptional this barbeque is. You'll see similar sentiments on barbeque.com and amongst all the finest smokers in the USA.
Whole hog is different, and imparts more flavor in every bite. This is true across pulled pork, ribs and random pieces of dark meat goodness that come on the dinner plate.
Don't fear the hash. It's not corned beef, it's more like liquid pork meets an Italian red sauce. Except no tomatoes. I still am not clear on what is in it and I don't even care. Indulge!
Service is expedient and excellent. Dining room attendants are an extra touch that distinguishes this establishment from others.
Don't skip the banana pudding. Even if you don't like pudding. It's a cousin of the Magnolia Bakery banana pudding, and perhaps the better of the two. I'll leave you to decide.
Up north we don't have the country refinement-- front porches overlooking corn fields, trees in parking lots, restaurants with wood paneling. I soaked it all in.
This will be a road trip staple for years to come. It seems like the best kind of place to bring friends, family, foodies and the people you love.
Thank you Sweatman's!!
