We stopped on our way to the Blue Lagoon. The waiter was super friendly and welcoming, the beer was perfectly chilled and the food was amazing! So glad we found this place and would definitely recommend!

There aren’t many options for dinner in Grindavík but this place was bootable and came with good recommendations. It’s very well advertised all around Grindavík and the volcano sites. The decor is a little fragile. Service was good and the food was nice but overall it was just an average dinner, an expensive one for tourists (but we did know that would be the case).

I came here because of the reviews, and was disappointed, The lack of cars should have tipped me off. Papa's down the street was full. I ordered the fish and chips which according to their menu is coated with their own special batter. The batter is thick, heavy, and the not pleasant taste distracts from and competes with the flavor of the fish. Also they used cod instead of a firm fish. The cooking in that batter resulted in a flaky overcooked fish.that fell apart. The nice sized portion and the price does make up for the poor quality.

I had the Artic Char, which was really good. My family said the Fish & Chips and Seafood Soup were also great. This is the perfect place to stop for lunch.

Super fresh and delicious fish and chips! Stopped here on the way to Keflavik airport for one last meal in Iceland. Service was great and food was some of the best we had on our entire stay in Iceland. Would definitely recommend!

The atmosphere seemed inviting but the food was rather mediocre. I was disappointed in the menu. The restaurant is very small. If we had not previously gone to another fish place I would maybe think more highly but it just wasn’t as good. Nothing bad just not as good.

Had the fish soup and received a soup that contained crab sticks (cheapest fish byproduct from the processing factory) and 2 shrimps. It also tasted as if artificial flavors had been added. Considering that this place is right next to the ocean and the local fish market, that is just unacceptable.

I had The fish of The day. It was exelent. Maybe the best meal so far on Icland. Quick service. Good beer. A berry good experience

Fantastic place! Less than 10 minutes from Blue Lagoon (the food is very pricey at Blue Lagoon) . I had a pizza and my husband had the steak and lobster with potatoes. The steak was easy to cut and very flavorful. The potatoes, although white, tasted like sweet potatoes. Not sure how they managed to do that! Try this restaraunt!

We went here for dinner because the place we were going stopped serving food at 4pm. I am glad because we had a delicious dinner. I had the lobster which was very yummy and my sister had the arctic char. My fiend had the lamb which was overcooked. All meals came with potatoes and salad. The lobster/fish soup was really good. Highly recommend.

We found this restaurant by chance, we were just driving and exploring, got hungry and searching on Google for near by restaurants it showed us this one. It was good! The food was very delicious and the attention truly great! Highly recommended!

We take away 2 pizzas and they were very good, and I’m saying it as an Italian. It’s the second time we go here, the first we took fish soup and hamburger, both were really great!

We walked here from our cabin in Grindavík - it was easy to find and access. We had pre-booked but it was mid-February so it turned out it wasn't very busy. Nonetheless we enjoyed the warm setting and great food on a cold and windy night. The fish soup was very tasty and the Atlantic char simple but well-prepared and presented.

This is the best place ever. If you’re on the south coast, go here and say hi to Karí! We didn’t have exactly a typical restaurant experience, although we did have some food. More on that later, but now for the story: We took a red eye from Boston, and landed at Keflavik airport at 6 am, and had a reservation at the Blue Lagoon for 9 am. What we didn’t know, and what the car rental agent didn’t tell us, is that most of the roads were closed or impassable because of a big snowstorm that happened a day before we arrived in Iceland. We followed our GPS on Google Maps, and were directed onto a closed road. Our 4x4 Land Cruiser went off the road into a snowbank and we were very lucky to not have flipped it over. We were in the middle of nowhere, in the dark, and the rental car agency (Europcar - DO NOT USE THEM EVER!) told us we were on our own, basically. They couldn’t get a tow truck or any emergency services out to help us and told us “good luck”. Luckily, Karí Guðmundsson, owner of The Fish House, happened along and found us. He couldn’t pull our car out, but he drove us back to his restaurant so we could get warm. He and my husband went back to the accident scene and got our luggage, then Karí went around town trying to find us some help getting out of the snow. Every person with a tow rope or strap was out helping, and the all volunteer emergency services workers were home sleeping after being out all night. After hearing about the rental car agency’s offer of no help, Karí called them and told them he would notify the media about the poor service if they didn’t honor their contract with us. Five minutes later, Europcar called me, said they’d have someone deliver us another vehicle from the airport, and would get the wrecked vehicle out. Then, he made us the best coffee I’ve had in forever, and made my kids a pizza. We’d all been awake over 24 hours by now, and were exhausted, but the kindness and hospitality he showed us really saved the trip for us. We were ready to turn back and fly home, but we stayed and I’m glad we did. We will be planning another trip to Iceland in summer, and we will absolutely stop by the Fish House. Number one fish restaurant, hands down!!!

This is a restaurant that's often used for lunch stops by tour operators. The whole place was packed when we arrived with a small group (8 people). Strangely, some people of our group managed to order AND eat before others had even managed to flag a waiter down. When politely inquiering, the waiter then started to be snappy and borderline rude. Our whole group ordered fish & chips. The chips wer okay-ish, the fish was good, but the batter very soggy. I wouldn't go back.
