However, when it was my turn, she not only asked for my ID, but also questioned its validity, asked me to confirm my address, and verify my age. It was clear that I was being singled out, likely because I didn’t look like the rest of the patrons at the bar. When I declined to answer any further questions, she tossed my ID onto the bar and walked away, drawing unnecessary attention and creating a scene. It was a blatant and disappointing display of bias—one that reflects how racism continues to show up in everyday interactions, often without consequence.
