Stopped here during travels for a friend’s wedding. Most small towns don’t have good coffee shops. This one is AMAZING. The vibes are great, music great, great food & pastries, they have matcha and delicious lattes. Chef’s kiss. Staff is also super friendly. 10/10 experience

We made the quick 15-minute trip from Columbus, NC to Cardinal Coffee and Bistro in Landrum, SC — and we’re so glad we did.

Our group of eight walked in expecting a good cup of coffee. What we got was an unforgettable experience, thanks entirely to Ava, who was holding it down solo that morning. Yes — she was the only one working, and she absolutely crushed it. Taking orders, making drinks, engaging every person who walked through the door — all with a smile and calm confidence. She didn’t just serve us; she made us feel genuinely welcome.

We don’t know much about Ava, other than that she’s juggling two jobs and hasn’t had the chance to travel much, but her warmth, personality, and work ethic made a huge impression on all of us. Amanda, if you’re reading this — give that woman a raise!

The shop itself is full of charm — cozy and peaceful, with thoughtful touches like the Bible verse on the counter that made it feel personal and meaningful. And the drinks? The Avocado and Espresso shakes were incredible — totally unique and absolutely delicious. We’re already planning to come back this week because of the experience Ava created for us.

Thank you, Cardinal Coffee, for being more than just a coffee stop — and thank you, Ava, for being the highlight of our day.

— With gratitude,
Your Michigan Crew (spending the week just across the border in NC)

This was good but not as good as I expected from the high Google Review ratings. Given the prices, I expected a better breakfast sandwich. Nothing wrong, just something I could have easily done at home.

We visited this lovely coffee shop while traveling through Landrum. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. The menu was extensive with all kinds of coffee delights and options as well as wonderful baked goods and lunch choices. The prices were reasonable and the service was great. A great contribution the the line of businesses on the street.

The ladies were kind and helpful. I would recommend this wonderful place to anyone that is in the area. Thank you Cardinal Coffee, keep up the great work!

I visited landrum for a long weekend and this was a daily stop! (Except Sunday, of course) the iced lattes are some of the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is delightful, the building is beautiful, and every aesthetic here would make this a daily visit if I were a local. A great spot for travelers.

Really appreciated seeing a coffee shop open on Memorial Day. Wish I had given it a miss though. We went in with just one other couple in front of us ordering, didn't realize how many people sat around had not yet been served. It wasn't packed, but they couldn't cope. We waited 39 mins before even getting our coffee. Some ladies that came in after us, couldn't wait & they asked to change their order to go. The servers then bumped them up before everyone else still waiting. I was ready to cancel then, but my husband is more patient than me. The two orders in front of us were waiting for to go orders, yet these women got theirs first. Finally the food came, it wasn't worth the wait. I thought I was getting avocado on sourdough. This was not sourdough, it was one small slice of the type of sandwich bread you get at a grocery store. Definitely not sourdough.
