This is a family run restaurant - it doesn’t get better than that. I went here with my whole family, extended family, kids, and friends EVERY Friday for 2 years straight. We can’t wait to get some more of the best local steamed oysters in town. My kids have some of their earliest memories here

We literally drove 1 hour and 15 minutes just to eat at this place because of all the good reviews. The buffet is only from 11 am- 2:30pm every day, but apparently they quit refilling anything by 1:00. That's what time we got there. Paid $18 something each for a buffet and a drink. Got to the buffet (there's no lighting over it, or it was off) couldn't hardly tell what we were getting but more than half of the hotbar pans were empty. Most meats seemed to still be available but all the vegetables were gone except beans and some kind of potato that wasn't mashed but partially smashed. I'm just puzzled as to why if you only have a buffet for 3 and 1/2 hours of the day why you can't keep it full of food for such a short time.
The food we did eat was pretty good, except for the hamburger steak which was big round balls of hamburger meat , not flattened out, that was still pink in the middle.
Definitely wouldn't go back and questioning who's giving the great reviews for this place on google!
Also, the cashier insulted me about my outfit out of nowhere.
Vegetarian options: This place is advertised to have many different vegetables but the day we went they were all out except for beans and smashed up baked potatoes.

I'm a hometown gal and I grew up being familiar with the restaurant, but I haven't been in well over 10 years. My husband had never been, so we decided to give it a try. We seated ourselves, which was fine. It wasn't hard to find a seat because most of the tables were empty. The waitress took our drink orders immediately, but then it took about 20 minutes before said drinks arrived. 1 tea. 1 sprite. 1 water that faintly tasted like sprite. A little while passed before she returned to take our food order. She seemed a little "off", but she has a job, she can't be that "off" can she?? She preceeded to take our orders. After each order, she looked so confused as if we were at Burger King asking for a Big Mac. We then waited about 20-30 more minutes before another waitress looked at our empty table and asked "have y'all gotten your food yet"...nope! 5 minutes later, out comes the "off" chick with all of our food except a side of rice and a side of fried okra... which I had to remind her about. So she left and returned with 2 other people who explained they were out of okra but I could get squash... yeah...no. I declined and explained it was fine, but it wasn't fine, because after all of that... still no rice. We waited, and waited, and finally asked a passing waitress for the rice, and she brought it out immediately. My husband's hamburger steak tasted like rubber, my shrimp was missing the basic seasoning, and the Mac and cheese was noodles and cheese, and it wasn't the creamy cheese. It was literally noodles and shredded cheese baked. That's it! This was not the Big E's that I remembered. I probably will try again... in another 10 years.

Food was just okay. It was mediocre and bland, unseasoned. The buffet had a very limited selection as well.
Service was great, however.
Kid-friendliness: They provide high chairs.

Asked about a menu and was told no there isnt just buffet. Food was leftover from day before. Mac n cheese was very dry and the mashed potatoes were very runny like soup. Don't recommend eating here...nasty
I wish I could say we loved it. I've driven by many times and finally got a chance to stop for dinner. My wife and I were excited to try the buffet... except there is no buffet, not at dinner time anyway. We got there around 6:30 pm on Wednesday three weeks ago. We asked to sit outside, and the hostess took us through a mostly-empty restaurant and bar area. Outside they had a nice deck with nice furniture. The musician was very good. That was about the extent of our good experience. It took 15 minutes for the hostess to come back over and ask if anyone had taken our drink order (they hadn't). She brought back our beers about 10 minutes later (bottles), then took our cheeseburgers order. About 20 minutes later the burgers came out. It was about 7:30 at this point. Yes, we got cheeseburgers. They tasted like they were right out of a box in the freezer with no seasoning mixed in, heated up and slapped on a roll that was just this side of stale. The lettuce was fresh and the tomatoes were not too anemic. The burgers were served on bread plates, so not visually appealing either. No sides were offered, we assumed it came with *something*. Ok, our bad, we apparently didn't read the menu very well with all the time we had, but she didn't even try to upsell by offering fries or some other side. Some could say they were having an "off" night, with the service being horrible and the food sub-par. But I won't be back to try to see what a good night looks like.
