Honestly everything we ordered from here was delicious. My steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare and my boyfriend’s seafood boil was amazing. To top it all off the banana pudding was soooo good. Along with great service and nice outdoor seating.

We had an amazing experience at Roxbury Mercantile! It was the perfect lunch to end our Edisto Beach vacation and was our favorite restaurant on or around the island. The server was so friendly and personable and was more than happy to check for gluten free items. The Shrimp Creole was top notch and I cleaned my plate. Very reasonably priced and homey atmosphere!

The Roxbury Mercantile is one of our favorite places to eat dinner during our annual trip to Edisto. The service is great, and the food is always fresh and flavorful! My boys love the wings as a starter. The burgers and chicken sandwich are delicious according to them. I always get the fried shrimp and flounder. The crust is so light yet crisp with a perfect hint of cornmeal and salt. The sides are fantastic- made from local produce and staples (think grits). It’s always a treat to sit outside and enjoy the summer breeze and sometimes live music. Can’t wait to get back to the Roxbury!

This was the most amazing meal and service. Everything was locally sourced. Holy smokes I’m so full right now. I tried a bite from almost everyone’s plate. Best Southern - Low country meals and desserts hands down.
Appetizer- Hot Rox Shrimp…y’all!! That sauce was made from scratch! I wanted to bottle it.
She crab soup…soooo delicious
The pork chop…look!! I make fun of people for ordering pork chops because most places are not that creative. This! The description alone had me drooling…IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! I had the red peas and brussel sprouts as my sides.
Let’s just say everyone else’s meal was on point. I want to skip to dessert…banana pudding!!! YES PLEASE! Crème Brûlée…best I’ve ever had! And the chocolate cake…to die for.
Ashely our server was absolutely wonderful!! So impressive / friendly and didn’t miss a beat.
Thank you! We will be back!!

Restaurantji Recommends
I’m not a negative person and don’t like to be mean, so there’s not much I want to say about this place. I will say that I do not recommend going here. I ate there yesterday and this morning I have diarrhea.

We ate at the Roxbury during our recent vacation in Edisto. We were very impressed by the quality of the food and ingredients as well as their gluten free offerings. We had the Fried Green Tomato’s (w/ corn meal), Fish Tacos, and their Veggie Platter with a mix of sides ranging from red rice to sea island red peas - all were delicious! They use a lot of local ingredients which really highlights the area which we enjoyed. We found their pricing to be very reasonable especially considering this isn’t just an everything “fried” kind of place.
Being gluten free has made eating out a chore, the Roxbury brought joy back to dining again! Their service was attentive and very well versed with their menu and ingredients. Their food isn’t overdone or fussy - their menu is centered on pure ingredients that are well prepared and delicious. They have a nice dining room and a wonderful patio with great air movement for the hot and buggy days. My only wish is that their She Crab soup was gluten free as I’m sure it is probably amazing too!

Lara was amazing while taking care of our large party of 16. With recommendations on drinks, appetizers, and entrees, we enjoyed our evening. The honeysuckle crush, blackberry old fashion, tacos, fried green tomatoes, and she crab soup were among the favorites. Thank you for a wonderful dinner. We plan to come back next time we are in town.
