Visiting Fat Harold’s is like entering into a movie about the early 1960s (am thinking of the movie classic “Shag” made in Myrtle Beach). Good old music (not too loud) and plenty of old regulars showing you how to do the famous dance that was born here. Check it out.

Well, I can't believe I have owned a home in North Myrtle beach for 7 years and I'm just now going in to Fat Heralds. Not impressed! We decided to go in around 10:00 pm on Friday Nite and check it out. We usually just go to the OD arcade and listen to live music for free. But last night we decided to go to Fat Heralds had to pay $20.00 cover charge for my wife and I for what I'm not sure. There was probably less than 20 people in there and maybe 1 or 2 couples dancing. After we paid, we noticed that they stop taking money at the door shortly afterwards. Not trying to be mean or disrespectful but just not happy with the establishment. Always heard such enthusiasm on this spot but I was not impressed. Thanks for listening.

I like this place, I like watching the old timers gather, dance and continue on with the legacy of shag dancing at the beach.
The bar is spacious and filled with history and memorabilia all over the walls. It captures a special place in time.

I also clean the toilets here on the weekends! Yes I am the weekend janitor.

Mandy Holt wasn’t a great shag instructor.

The wife is nuts about "shag" dance. So, from California to North Myrtle Beach, Fat Harold's didn't disappoint. On a Monday night, there was a shag lesson going on. Had to have a fried bologna sandwich. The servers are very friendly too.
