The Shack Reviews
Best fried scallops anywhere! And I'm from New England.
We frequent the area and my parents loved the shack until tonight. (Actually are still here). Informed the host who attempted to seat us at two separate tables (party of 8) we prefer to sit together due to it being my mom’s birthday dinner. The host never offered to accommodate us. Made us sit at separate table where we couldn’t even talk to each other but yet had a six top right behind one of our tables where we could atleast of been close enough to talk to each other. The Shack is a popular beachside restaurant that serves both seafood and Southern comfort food. Visitors often experience long wait times, especially during busy summer months when they are open past 8 PM until 9 PM. The restaurant has a casual, laid-back atmosphere with good vibes and a relaxed dress code, making it a great spot to visit during a beach trip. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, and the owner is often seen greeting customers and helping out.
The breakfast menu is a highlight, with dishes like the Loaded Trash, a flavorful bowl of grits topped with bacon, sausage, cheese, and an egg. Customers also enjoy the honey butter hush puppies, which are complementary and offer a fun, different take on hush puppies. The seafood is very fresh and battered wonderfully, not too thick and well-seasoned. Shrimp and grits are especially popular, tasting like a home-cooked meal. Many visitors find that the food is consistently delicious and served quickly, even when the restaurant is crowded.
The Shack also offers outdoor covered seating with benches, perfect for waiting without feeling rushed. It is known as a cozy, family-owned place where locals go for good, no-frills food served by nice people. The restaurant has maintained its consistent quality, with customers returning year after year and considering it a must-stop during their visits. While the grilled/broiled crab cakes may not be everyone's favorite, the overall dining experience at The Shack remains a favorite among both locals and tourists.
