Fresh and unique and absolutely delicious! Inventive use of textures and flavors! Lovely outside dining topped off our lovely evening.
I worked for Southern Living for 10-years and routinely ate in their test kitchens, have written articles and restaurant reviews for several other magazines, and I have dined in hundreds of exquisite, starred, and rustic restaurants on 5 continents. All of which I share only as a reference point. My partner and I comment all the time on how fortunate we are to have 1826 Bistro in our neighborhood. As others have mentioned, it rivals anything that Greenville or Anderson (or Charlotte or Atlanta for that matter) has to offer. The chef is creative and gifted and the front of the house is run with warmth and efficiency. Also, as others have mentioned, my partner and I routinely leave the Bistro with her commenting (and me agreeing) that every single dish we had was delightful. In fact, in the dozens of times we've eaten there we think there was one dish we weren't crazy about - but it had nothing to do with the preparation or quality - it just wasn't for us. More than once my partner has said we could just ask them to bring us anything from the menu and we'd be happy. And she's right. We try to visit once a month, we bring our visiting family and friends there, and we look forward to it every time. My point here is that this is an excellent restaurant from booking, ambience, service, food, and value. If you are reading this review I assume you are pondering going. Do yourself a favor: Go.
Simply magical! The food …a work of art. An experience I will be back for again and again. ♥️🦋
We were able to get in at 5:30 for an early dinner. Seating is limited inside and the reservations list is full! The menu online was a little intimidating so we called to see if there were any specials. I’m not sure young kids will find anything, but we had the swordfish and the flat iron steak. They were about as good as you could possibly do it! Like really really great flavor! The appetizer menu was a bit too fancy for us but it seems every table orders the focaccia and oil. We tried it and it was homemade and amazing! Chocolate mousse for dessert was perfect! Like a scoop of ice cream but mouse instead with cocoa powder. Again, about as good as you can do it!
We were the second table of the evening, got there at 445pm and it felt like a Friday night rush. The servers knowledge of the menu and dishes was fantastic but rush, rush, rush, even the check was dropped while we were still eating. Culturally we have become a society of hurry up but when we are dropping some coin on dinner it's an event not an activity. Food was delicious, smallish portions but we can't eat that much anymore anyways, probably will be back.

We try different places with friends for our Xmas get together. It wasn't bad except for the old fashioned drinks a couple of us had, nor was it fantastic. Now we can say we have been there....
Outstanding food and service. The chef is amazing at blending unusual flavors. We had a great evening here.

1826 Bistro is a fine dining, casual boutique restaurant in a rather unlikely place, downtown Pendleton. I deferred writing a review after my initial visit, because I frankly, because our experience was so good, I thought it must be a one-off. But that was not the case. Our second visit was just as good as the first.
The menu here is always changing, but I feel comfortable saying that you will be pleased with whatever your order. Every sauce from appetizer to desert is prepared to perfection, perfectly complimenting the food it enhances.
There is a lovely outside seating area that is dog friendly with well spaced tables. The inside is quite small.
If there is only one thing to be critical of is that there are a lot of yellow jackets around while we were eating. I think a few yellow jacket traps might mitigate the issue.
Still overall, an excellent experience in great dining.

This place is SO good! I really liked the kind, attentive and prompt service and the food was some of the best I have had since moving to the area. The risotto blew my socks off! Only down side was the size/how sound carries but that’s the sacrifice for being in a charming old building I suppose.

I cannot recommend this place enough. I have lived a lot of different places and had the pleasure of tasting a lot of different food, but I swear this restaurant may be the best I’ve ever had. And it’s consistent. Every time I go in there, I am amazed by the meal and the service.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but my family and I went out to eat here for the first time and can confidently say this was the best meal I’ve had since I’ve moved to SC. Everything we tried was spectacular and the staff was wonderful! Our waiter recommended the zucchini appetizer which was a huge hit. We didn’t even get out the door before we all agreed we would be back soon. Everything from the drinks to the dessert fresh and delicious!

Our party of four had an absolutely fabulous meal from start to finish. All of the dishes AND drinks were well thought out, nicely presented, and of high quality. The menu is just the right size, with wonderful options that made choosing difficult, but not so large that quality and attention to detail gets lost. The atmosphere was comfortable yet classy, and service was great. In a time where restaurants are often disappointing, 1826 is a breath of fresh air. Highly, highly recommend!
