Found this restaurant on my way back from Charlotte to Charleston. It was amazing. You don't find many restaurants like this anymore. Its 2.5 hours away from me and im trying to plan a trip so I can stop back in. One of my favorite restaurants now. Reminds me of family dinner at grandma's when I was younger.

Not a real fancy place. They have a pretty basic menu, but most of it is home made and white delicious. Def worth the stop if you're driving by.

They we're a little overwhelmed because they had about 20-25 people come in at one time together. That's why our service was slow

Southern cooking like home, real comfort food. Made fresh, very tasty! The beef stew and the salmon patties, both were excellent. Very reasonable pricing too!

Delicious! If you miss Gran's home cooking, with biscuits from scratch, fried fish, homemade sides, mashed and gravy, roasted chicken etc etc....then the Front Porch is for you. Honest and delicious food, handmade flaky pastry....yummmmmeeeeeeeee. And - very modest prices, a.good-natured and down-home staff, in a comfortable pleasant setting. WHO needs fast food when you can have GOOD food?

Hotel clerk recommended this. As it was literally across the street we decided to walk there. He did not steer us wrong. This is a restaurant that is just plain good. The service was amazing. Everyone who walked by checked on us. We each had the daily special of chicken and dumplings with two sides. I picked the beets and green beans; husband had beets and fried green tomatoes. All were excellent, and meals were so reasonably priced, $11.99. Portion sizes were large. Hubby and I could have easily split a meal. We each took out over half of each of our meals.

When we are back in the area, we will definitely eat here again.

I rarely leave reviews, but this visit deserves a warning. Before coming, I researched and saw all the glowing reviews, and when I pulled in, the outside looked charming and inviting, so I was hopeful. I genuinely love homestyle cooking and look for restaurants like this, so I know what good should taste like. Unfortunately, that’s where the good impression ended. The inside was dark, dated, and uninviting, with stained ceilings and harsh dim lighting that made it hard to even read the menu. The service was polite, but the food was a complete letdown. My fried chicken came out hot and steaming, so I know it was freshly made, but it was still dried out and inedible inside — and it left me with a stomach ache. The macaroni and cheese was greasy instead of cheesy, and tasted like it had been sitting too long. Worst of all, they couldn’t even get the bread right. The cornbread was cold, overcooked, and flavorless, and the biscuit was the same — dark, dense, cold, and without the fluffy texture a southern biscuit should have. With no butter, honey, or condiments on the table, there was nothing to salvage them. The mashed potatoes and gravy were the only decent part of the meal, but overall I left feeling like I had wasted both my money and my time. The ambiance doesn’t match the home-style image they project, and the food certainly doesn’t live up to the reviews. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
