Food was great, service isn't really on the employees because they switched to a DIY model, but their was no one to clean my table before I sat down. I had to bus it myself

So one of our worst restaurant experiences ever. We eat at Steak N’Shake all over the US when we visit places as we don’t have in Canada.

We walked in & we were placing our order when the older lady/manager rudely advied the restaurant closes at 10pm & we need to be out so they can clean. We finish pacing our order and get our receipt at 9:33pm, go to get drinks and grab a table and they literally blocked off every area except a dirty table. I asked the young man that was cleaning if he could clean the table he looked at me placed the cleaner and rag on the counter and went back to what he was doing. My husband asked for another table as there were 5 of us for a 4 person bench. They didn’t care so then I advised again the table was dirty, finally it was cleaned. Went to get my sweet tea and there was noneso I asked as I don’t drink soda. The drive thru had was still open but yet none. I finally opted for lemonade and couldn’t get more than 1/2 bonfires that was out too. We proceed to sit down & wait for our meal. It came out at 9:49pm & didn’t come out on a tray, but came out in a bag, maybe that was a hint to go eat in our vehicle? Burgers were messy & buns were covered in the condiments. They literally the whole time we were eating made us feel totally uncomfortable & reminded us again the restaurant was closed. In the end I finally asked the person that cleaned the table if the older lady was a manager and they advised they both were. I advised maybe it would be best to not allow people to order after 9:30pm and stated time our tickets printed & time food came out & said it was the worst experiece we’d had & that the behavior was actually appalling. I will report this to head office, doesn’t matter if it’s a franchise or not it’s a reflection on the brand that this can happen. It’s people that manage a restaurant this way that will wonder why they have no job in the future. Clearly neither of these people should be on managers in the hospitality business.

I would never recommend this location to anyone.

We travel a lot in the US and just came from
Florida where we had many amazing conversations with lots of staff at various restaurants. Ate on our way through Georgia and had fantastic service there too, as a matter of fact this particular restaurant will seat you up to 5min before closing and never make you feel rushed. Not that we’ve ever done that, but we have been in the restaurant after close time with many other customers on other occasions.

For a place that calls itself fast food, its service is anything but fast. Kiosks are available to order from inside to make things more efficient, but you will end up waiting over 30 minutes to get just parts of your order. Seems to be a common experience, as other patrons inside were waiting for long times and still receiving the wrong items or missing items from their order. Food itself was mediocre at best. The burger and tenders both tasted stale; the tenders having hard dry and spongy texture, while the burger was lukewarm on hard bread. The best thing that was served to me were the fries. Inside of the dining room was dirty, with trash and crumbs remaining on dining tables and debris still on the floor. You probably would have a better dining experience at the Circle K across the street. This location has many ways to go to improve.

Went through the drive through and ordered a combo meal. They mixed up my order and gave me a bag of fries. Went in after realizing their mistake and they remade my order. I go to eat my food and it was wrong again! Really?!

Worst experience in town don’t walk up to the counters they ignore you and expect you to use a kiosk and when you do they don’t give you the order you paid for. Waited for 30+ minutes and then waited at the counter, nobody came up for over 10 minutes and when they finally did they ignored everyone waiting. Getting my money back and never coming back here. Waste of time and money for nothing.

This will be the last time I ever order from this location again. Ordered online and went in to pick up my food. While waiting I noticed another customer complaining that she noticed that one of the managers was handling the meat with no gloves on nor had she washed her hands prior. I didn't witness that myself but I went on after getting my food. Got to work and ate. A few hours later I felt like I had been hit by a truck. Fever, stomach cramps, diarrhea and had to leave work early. Have been out of work for the past two days and haven't been able to eat anything else. Still running fever and running back and forth to the bathroom. Body aches all over. No doubt I got food poisoning. Would not wish this on anyone 😭 Never again!!!

0 stars if I could. Kiosk ordering with no actual employee interactions at all. That alone would have made me leave if it wasn't for a need for nostalgia since our local one closed years ago. 45 mins for fast food in a restaurant with 2-4 other tables. Food was cold (cheese on the burger wasn't even melted) and missing the toppings with unasked for toppings on the other. Not worth even arguing at that point as we needed to continue driving. Tables were dirty, bathrooms were appalling (no soap, toilet overflowing with used paper and full of trash 🤮). Employees can apparently wear whatever they want so it was hard to tell who even worked there. Half expected to find white fur in my food from the fluffy coat one had on.

I don't think I've ever been to a worse fast food place including gas stations. Genuinely an impressive feat.

Blech what the heck happened to the chocolate syrup? I tted here and South Blvd a week apart from each other and the chocolate doesn't taste like chocolate the exact same way. Chocolate shakes from this chain were big for mom and I we will sadly be scrapping the tradition until this changes back.

Meh, food was average without much flavor. Fries were soggy. Service can't be rated because you order and pay at a kiosk, wait 15 min for 3 burgers and soggy fries, someone yells your name and then just leaves food on the pickup counter.
