The Pump House location cannot be beat. The perfect place to enjoy a meal or drink - right on the river - particularly when the weather is nice!Personally, I prefer to visit for happy hour drinks and snacks in lieu of dinner service. The Smoked Chicken Nachos are a great shareable. The Brussel Sprouts are delicious but super rich, so best to share with others (I usually can only have a few bites). Cocktails and wine selection are always on point, and the drink specials during happy hour are excellent.

We didn’t make reservations for lunch and had to wait 15 minutes- no biggie. I told the hostess I had problems with the online reservation page, and she just added us to the wait list. The hostess sat us, and the manager brought waters and took our drink order. He told us who our waiter would be. Never saw the waiter…ever until he brought us our bill. When the hostess sat us at our table, she said we could look at the wall with the pretty art. We had asked for an outside table but I guess looking at a wall was better. What was that all about? The manager took our order, and the hostess brought the food to our table. I knew it was going to be a long lunch when nobody came around to fill our waters or asked if we wanted another drink. No one asked if we wanted dessert (we actually did because it was my husband’s birthday). No one came around to check on us. The waiter walked past our table several times but never stopped. There were 3 tables inside and several more outside with guests. So, it wasn’t busy or bustling. My husband said that he felt like an after thought- kind of a crappy birthday lunch. The food was really good, but the service was non-existent. It was the most bizarre dining experience we have ever had. We will never go back.

Stopped for lunch on the way up to the Charlotte airport. Sat on the balcony/patio on the third floor, overlooking the river. The restaurant is in a cool spot, in a cool building. Our servers were pleasant, helpful and attentive. The food was all very good. The shrimp and grits and the chicken sandwich were the best of the items we ordered.
Super disappointed, food took a hour to come out; this would not be a big deal if the food was good. Chicken sandwich tasted like old oil, the special wagu smash burger was overworked and dense. 1 out of 5 people in our group enjoyed their meal and half the meals were cold.

Went to the Pump House for happy hour. Bartender told me it was half price on glasses of wine. So I chose from the glasses of wine. I get the bill and it’s full price. I questioned the charge and he said the glass I ordered wasn’t included and walked off. That would have been nice to know when I ordered it. Place left a bad taste in my mouth.
