Found Bistro 221 by Google search while traveling from Florida to Virginia.
Service was on point, upon seating we were immediately informed there would be a wait with ordering food due to previous large party.
Our meal was good, best sweet potato fries I've had in a long time. Cobb salad was plentiful and grilled cheese with bacon was tasty!
Driving through the area from NJ, made a stop here and my wife and I LOVED it. The food was great and reasonably priced, and the ambiance was amazing. It was obviously the go-to place for the locals, which is always a good sign. But the cherry on top was our server Katie. Amazing service, when we are back in the area we will definitely go there again. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend this place! A hidden gem! Food was fantastic and the atmosphere was nice. They have a great outdoor area that is dog friendly. The service was very slow the day we visited which is the only thing keeping it from being a 5 star review.

Stopped here on the way home on Thanksgiving Sunday for lunch. Location was very nice and having outdoor seating was nice since we had a toddler and dog. The food was pretty good, but nothing amazing. The real issue is that even though it wasn't really busy it took over an hour to get our food.

Terrible experience. Despite only one large table in the restaurant, the staff seemingly couldn’t manage even two tables at a time. We were a table of two. Our fried pickles took 20–30 minutes, and that ended up being the only food we were served. Excuses ranged from staff callouts to long cook times due to the large table, but none explained why our actual meals never arrived. Our patience ran thin in the quiet, and basically empty restaurant.
After waiting another (at the very least) 30–45 minutes, a staff member finally admitted they were missing several ingredients after we’d already been told our food was being prepared and would be out shortly. At that point, we knew we’d been lied to and had enough.
We wasted 1.5 hours and got nothing but fried pickles and a drink refill to show for it. Most restaurants can handle two tables at a time. This one clearly can’t. We won’t be back.

Catfish bites were unbelievable. Best I’ve ever had. Cobb salad with fried chicken and honey mustard was excellent. Burger was great too!

Delicious food and amazing service, in a charming rustic location. Local owner who cares about the experience and hustles to make your evening great! Kate the server was especially delightful— will definitely be back!

Bistro 221 is a true hidden gem. Housed in a gorgeous restored brick building, the space strikes the perfect balance between cozy chic and versatile charm. The upgrades are clearly well thought out—this is a spot that could easily transform into a formal venue, yet it’s just as comfortable for a dressed-down, small-town family dinner.
The food did not disappoint. We started with the deep-fried catfish pieces, which were light, crispy, and full of flavor. My husband ordered the salmon with vegetables—cooked beautifully—and I enjoyed the Bistro Burger with fries, extra crispy just as I requested. Every dish arrived hot and fresh. To wash it all down, the beer was perfectly cold, and my husband gave two thumbs up to the sweet tea.
Service was another highlight. Our server, Ms. Courtney, was spot-on: warm, attentive, and efficient without ever feeling rushed. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and experience offered.
Frankly, I’m amazed this place isn’t packed more often. Bistro 221 deserves to be buzzing every night. In fact, Hollywood should take note—this place could easily be a filming location with its character and charm.

It is a bit of a drive depending on where you live, but so worth it. It's Saturday at 7pm and we are in a window seat with our car on the other side of the window. I love small town USA. The food was excellent and the service was great. My wife had the burger and I had the killer club and we had fried pickles as an appetizer. The portion sizes were large and the atmosphere inviting. I dont normally leave reviews but this place needs to be recognized! Come visit Bistro 221!
