Very rude staff. I left before being served my meal. The girl with the blondish red hair was ridiculous. Not worth my business.

I visited Chef 21 Sushi Burger in Simpsonville for the first time with my family. Before arriving, we stopped at McDonald’s to get a Happy Meal for our daughter since the restaurant’s menu isn’t suited to her taste.
As soon as we walked in, without saying a single word to us first, the manager loudly shouted, “You can’t come in here with that McDonald’s food — you have to leave!” This was said in front of many people and caused a very uncomfortable and embarrassing situation for us.
I sincerely hope this wasn’t racially motivated, as we are Hispanic, but the way we were treated felt completely inappropriate and uncalled for. We expected a more respectful and professional approach, especially in a family-friendly restaurant.
Needless to say, we will not be coming back.

Went for dinner this Sunday. Have been there for lunch many times. Took over half an hour to get our food due to the large number of takeout orders. The drivers were sitting around, most were poorly dressed and some had their phones on speaker mode- very rude behavior. Management should have a rule against phones on speaker mode. And drivers should wait outside till order is ready. The management may make a good profit from take outs, but it puts a huge load on the sushi chefs and wait staff. And they probably tip nothing. Please put a small tip fee so the chefs and wait staff are compensated. Ask the drivers to wait till called. Otherwise, you will drive away tipping done in customers. We generally spend 60-100 for my wife and I. We will not be back for dinner due to the above.

I am following up with a new review. I had a terrible first experience in May 2025(take out), and posted a review reflecting this. new staff and equipment issues contributed to the problems. The manager, Amanda, went above and beyond to correct this and make a great second impression. The second time with Chef 21 Sushi Burger in Simpsonville was GREAT! The food was delicious and the attention to our order was excellent. I had Gyoza, edamame, and spring rolls, while the rest of my family opted for sushi and bubble/boba tea. Everyone was well pleased and wants to return. Thank you, Amanda, for an excellent meal and great service! We will return.

We've never a had a bad meal here. My favorite is the Spicy Jalapeño Tuna Burger with a side of seaweed salad. The sushi and appetizers are excellent as well. Highly recommended!

The place was super busy, but that spoke volumes. It was cozy and fun. Our waitress, Amanda, did an awesome job taking care of us. Our food was very delicious! I cleaned my plate 😁 We will definitely be back!

Atmosphere: Went in with a friend during a time where there happened to be no other customers so it was really nice and quiet. We wanted sushi and sat in the sushi area of the restaurant. It had leather-like couches for seats and unique lighting/decorations. It smelled a bit like cleaning water and not so much like food, which I liked since it made me feel like the place was very clean, plus the smell of our food couldn't clash with the smell of other foods from earlier in the day. Music was alright and not too loud. It was a bit too cold for me, but I have Raynaud's Syndrome so I was numb by the time we left. If you don't have a sensitivity to cold you'll probably be fine.
Food/price: I got one sushi roll for like $17 and a lycheetini, and my total was $30 not including the tip. Friend got a sushi roll and a mocktail for the same price too. The sushi and drinks were all delicious but I'd save this restaurant for special occasions as I definitely plan on going back someday, it's just too out of budget for me to go regularly as a college student. If you have the budget then this might be your next favorite Southeast Asian restaurant in Greenville. They had a sushi dining area, a dining area for noodles(?), and a dining area with open grills to cook your own food South Korean-style.
Service: 9/10 the staff were very kind and knowledgeable about the menus. Our server went an extra mile to get my friend and I a couples-looking setup for our sushi even though we aren't dating and hadn't said so either. It was funny, but I think it'd be more effective for actual couples.
