Bexley Fish & Raw Bar

Based on a friend’s recommendation, we decided to venture beyond our usual dinner spots and head to Summerville to try Bexley’s. We arrived right as the restaurant opened, without a reservation, and asked to sit at the bar. We were warmly greeted by our friendly and attentive waitress, Gabbey. Shortly after placing our drink order, Chef Mike stepped out from the open kitchen and struck up a conversation with my husband and me. When he learned that my husband is originally from Italy and also a chef, Chef Mike generously took the time to show us his fresh ingredients, house-made sauces, and local farm finds—and even shared some of his other favorite restaurants. We sampled a variety of dishes, including the surfboard special, poke bowl, and French onion panna cotta. As a special surprise, Chef Mike created a gnocchi dish just for us, using his personal stash of pancetta as a nod to my husband’s Italian roots. It’s incredibly rare to find passionate chefs, welcoming staff, exceptional food, and walk-in seating anywhere in the Charleston area. Bexley’s is truly a gem, and we can’t wait to return and enjoy more of Chef Mike’s heartfelt creations.

We are always spoiled when we dine here. We had the surfboard...delicious. I loved the trout dip and crispy rice tuna bites so much that I asked for appetizer portions and the chef MADE custom portions just for me! Our tuna crudo and tomato salad were wonderful. The buttermilk corn soup was absolutely luscious & a table favorite! The oysters are always scrumptious. We ate everything so fast we didn't get pictures of the delicious food. The service and food are always an absolute delight!

Every person is amazing, every morsel of food is amazing - you are truly missing out if you have not been here yet. The flavors, creativity and attention-to-detail with everything they do is perfection!

Our experience was incredible from start to finish. Our service was incredible, all the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and “perfection” doesn’t even cover how delicious the food was! Last night was our first time there, and we will DEFINITELY be back again!

The atmosphere, food and customer service was excellent.

I wish I could give more stars. We shared about 5 small plates and every bite of everything was amazing. The raw bar oysters were amazing and the service was great! This was the best meal my family had had in years.

What an absolute gem in the heart of downtown Summerville! Not sure how we have missed this place the last couple years! All around servers, chefs, and food preppers are just charming and friendly. Quaint and quiet atmosphere, perfect for a romantic dinner or a weeknight out with a friend! The food…WOW!! Excellent choice of oysters, phenomenal platings and seasonings, but DO NOT miss the mussels!! The curried sauce, chili peanut crunch, lemongrass and lime are an amazing combination with the tasty mussels! We also had the shrimp and grits (yum!) and the crispy duck (delicious). As we watched the Surf Board, the Bone Marrow go by and the fish of the day (Snapper), we were tempted to order more.
