The couple times I have been, Mr Nigel has been very hospitable and present in his building. He introduced himself and I told him I remembered his restaurant on Ashley phosphate. I specifically remembered a food critique from a social media influencer who basically trashed Mr. Nigels livelihood. I feel it is important to speak the truth about Mr. Nigel and his food. I knew this was not my experience. I have never had a bad meal from Nigels or Nolas. All of this to say, whatever experience that influencer had, is not what i had. His food is amazing. I will continue to patronize his restaurant. Only request is to keep that cornbread in stock because BABYYYYYYY I COULD EAT THAT ALL DAY LONG. SLABS OF IT. Thank you Mr Nigel for greeting me, making sure I am taken care of and my food has always been A-1. I wish you much success and I'm glad youre super close to my house. What a great spot! They had a live band tonight. Thank you again to you and your staff 😀 my photos are of the loaded shrimp and grits. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Which has shrimp, crab, crawfish and 2 fried oysters with a bourbon butter sauce and i also got some red beans and rice. I ate the oysters right away and I don't even LIKE oysters. But that flavor of the batter made them disappear quickly...lol..so one photo has the oysters and one doesn't. I ate em😂. ANYTHING YOU GET IS GONNA HAVE FLAVOR! Just a local gal speaking my experience with some good soul food dishes. I had a fantastic meal tonight. Go check them out. They are worth a trip!

So today was my second time going to Nola’s and it has not disappointed. The first time I had the catfish and grits with crawfish gravy and this time I had the Nola’s loaded grits ! I also had a mango margarita and some type of rum punch ( can not remember the name ) . Great portions - the service AMAZING- the food was fresh hot and GOOOOOOOD. Both times I’ve gone have been during the weekday and the vibe was still great ( good music playing ). I can not wait to check it out on the weekend when they have djs/live music. Nola’s is becoming my new fav place in Charleston! If you in near or passing thru the Dorchester area - this is definitely a spot to add on your list !

I got my food to go, it was delicious for sure but most definitely pricey, which doesn’t make it family friendly at all. So probably just a spot I’ll go to when it’s just me and I’m trying to splurge a little.

The food is always good and hot, made to order, The service is good but very slow, a weekend like Valentine you should always be prepared for a crowd. I definitely recommend Nola’s for a date night or hang out spot.

I wish I had come to this place before now. One of the best restaurants in Summerville. Amazing food (and authentic), great atmosphere with the band and not too busy for a Friday night. I will definitely be back!

The food here is very special. The best tasting in Charleston. They really care about who walks through those doors and I appreciate that.
Try the gumbo with red beans & rice and mac and cheese.

I love Nola’s! Closest thing to experiencing New Orleans right here in Charleston! My favorite is the Nigel Chargrilled Oysters and of course the wings! Which is always my go too! The beignets are amazing and the rum punch is sooooo good!! I’m so excited about the other wing flavors that they’ve added especially the Geechee wings! I try to sample a little of everything on the menu whenever I go! I must say…they don’t ever disappoint! Love Nola’s 🖤

- [ ] We arrived at 7:05 pm Saturday Jan 17th,2026 table of three when you first walk in the first 3 tables were empty we were sat at the first one. We were so excited to try this food we ordered drinks took 20 min to get those and they tasted like syrup! didn’t complain at the drinks and we ordered the spinach dip add crab and oysters took 30 min to come out and there was no crab in the spinach dip !! We placed our food orders with the apps (the first the app came to the table was like these rock shrimp or something which wasn’t ours)….but at 9pm !!! this is what our table looked like, still no food. Waitress had came to use twice and let us know bc of the party it was taking longer, but the THIRD time she came she said “don’t be upset but the kitchen lost your ticket” and this was right after the two tables behind us got there food and they were sat after us. At this point me and my party were frustrated we just wanted to leave and actually go get food somewhere else. We asked to speak to a manger and we waited 15 more minutes and still no manager just the waitress with our drink tab we paid and left. Can say VERY VERY disappointing for a black owned resteraunt tried to give them a try and never again. Should have went to Lola’s.

We arrived noting the restaurant had no customers to our surprise. The owner immediately spoke with us and was very accommodating as we waited for our food to be prepared. I am not able to attest to the ambiance because we were the only customers initially.
We ordered jambalaya as well as chicken gumbo.
I was dismayed that the jambalaya had very little flavor at all! 😔 Sadly, our expectations were not exceeded. Although, the andouille sausage (which is crucial in jambalaya) was minimal and very thinly sliced there was an abundance of shrimp. I definitely expected better especially at the current price point.
The gumbo chicken was good. The banana bread pudding was good.
Overall, I would return to this restaurant to try something else on the menu (maybe something fried). Sorry, I cannot rate you 5 stars at this time.
Good luck with your endeavors!!
