We were warmly welcomed by the hostess, who offered us the choice of dining in the elegant dining room or the bar upstairs. We opted for the dining room, which had a delightful atmosphere and beautiful decor. Shortly after being seated, our attentive waiter swiftly took our drink orders and provided a thorough overview of the menu. The drinks we ordered were delightful.

For appetizers, we selected the fried calamari and she-crab soup, both of which were delicious and perfectly prepared. For our entrées, we chose the pan-roasted diver scallops and the grilled ribeye. Unfortunately, the scallops were underwhelming, with an overpowering ginger vinaigrette and overly fishy bonito flakes. The presentation was lacking, and overall, the dish did not meet our expectations. I wouldn't recommend it.

On the other hand, the grilled ribeye was exceptional—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The steak potatoes were amazing, though the sautéed onions were a bit too much.

Despite the ups and downs, we had a great experience, and the food was good overall. However, it is worth noting that the food is quite overpriced for what you get. Additionally, we highly recommend making a reservation, as we were turned away the night before despite the restaurant being practically empty. Nevertheless, we would still consider returning for another visit.

Review of The Hamptons Restaurant - Sumter, South Carolina I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Hamptons restaurant in Sumter, South Carolina, and I can confidently say it was one of the most remarkable dining experiences of my life. As someone who has frequented many fine dining establishments in Los Angeles, I can assure you that The Hamptons is second to none. I chose to indulge in the braised short ribs, paired with creamy cheese grits, and I was absolutely blown away. The short ribs were nothing short of extraordinary; they were so tender they practically fell off the bone, delivering rich, savory flavors that lingered delightfully on the palate. Before placing my order, I consulted with my attentive server, who enthusiastically recommended the short ribs, noting that patrons travel from afar just to savor them. Now that I’ve experienced them myself, I completely understand why! The atmosphere at The Hamptons is another highlight of the experience. The intimate setting, complemented by tasteful decor and soft lighting, creates a cozy yet upscale ambiance that makes every moment feel special. It’s the perfect backdrop for savoring each bite and enjoying the company of friends or loved ones. To top it all off, the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that my dining experience was smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. Every detail was thoughtfully attended to, which truly enhanced the overall experience. In summary, if you find yourself in Sumter, South Carolina, do not miss the opportunity to dine at The Hamptons. With its exquisite cuisine, exceptional service, and inviting atmosphere, it promises an unforgettable culinary journey that rivals the finest dining establishments in any major city. I can’t wait to return!

From our first visit more than three years ago, until today we have been fans of, and promoters for Hamptons. I don’t usually write reviews and I wrote a five star review a couple of years ago praising Rafeal and his superb culinary art.
Today, we arrived at the restaurant about 30 minutes before closing for lunch. We were seated, given a menu, and upon request, given a wine list. We were prepared to order when the hostess came to us and announced that a decision has been made by Danielle and Chef to close the kitchen. Essentially, we were asked to leave as they would not be serving us lunch.
I have two problems with this:
First, if the decision has been made, it would have been appropriate to let the hostess know before we were seated.
Second, sending a hostess to ask a customer to leave your restaurant under these circumstances was most indelicate.
The reason provided to us by our hostess for the early closing, was that they didn’t have enough customers today to stay open. They very well may have lost another loyal customer today, one who through rave recommendation has brought them more than a dozen new customers over the last two years.

Amazing food and service! Accommodated us and made my three year old fries that were not even on the menu. Also no problem with outside drinks as long as it's a drink for your babe or toddlers juice box. ??

There are not many places that are the full package but this place nails it: vibe, staff, drinks, and food! Have fun and do an appetizer flight and dessert! Ask for Winston, he is amazing!

We had a wonderful evening dining outside at Hamptons! We were walking downtown and were intrigued by the beautiful green wall and artfully designed outdoor space. It was fine dining for sure, and I felt comfortable in jeans! Winston was our server, and his recommendations and service were spot on! He made the evening memorable, and everything from the bar service to the desserts were out of this world. Even as the patio filled up, we felt like the only table there - my drink was never lower than half full all night! For a very special date night, I am thankful we wandered in to Hamptons, and we will be back - and asking to sit in Winston's section - the next time we are in Sumter.

Miranda and Zach are phenomenal. I have been coming here several times a week while working in the area. They are fantastic bartenders. Great personalities. Even on a slow day I stay for the conversation. They make the best old fashioned in the area (my opinion). This is the best mixed drink venue in Sumter. The food here is fantastic as well with daily changes.
