I decided to go back to wards because I remembered how good the ribs were. Yes, it was a long time since I was there but I didn't expect for things to be that different. I spent $300 on my order. Nothing was the same. I ended up giving everything to a homeless shelter. Drove from Columbia to Sumter only to find out that I should have stayed home.

My husband, from Atlanta has to come to Wards anytime we visit my hometown of Sumter. They dont do hash in Atlanta like they do in the Carolina's, so we get our fix from Wards. my baby alos loves those Dodgers!!

Went to this Wards bbq this past Sunday. It was only 1 of 3 locations open on Sunday. It was after 2pm and they were going to be closed next 2 days so I was a bit concerned about it being fresh. Well it was absolutely delicious. I’m a northerner visiting my son but I do like my bbq, especially Carolina style. Got the Pulled pork platter with all the fixings. Xtra sauce on pork was offered and accepted, so good. The rice n hash was a first for me and was excellent. Sides of slaw & potato salad were very good and fresh. And the hush puppies might have been best I’ve ever had. Service was friendly young man at counter snd 2 ladies working hard in the back. Whenever I come down to Sumter Wards will be my go to for bbq. 👍
