The family and I are in town for new years and was looking for someplace near the Market Commons area and found Bubba's through Yelp. There was no wait,since it is the off season they were not busy when we arrived at 6:00pm. The fried pickles were crispy and hot. My son got the popcorn shrimp with fries, my daughter got the big ole salad, my wife ordered the fried flounder basket and I got the first mate combo with fried oysters and fried grouper fingers. Everything came in a timely manner and was well cooked. My entrée came with fries, coleslaw, as well as hushpuppies. The fries were thick cut, crispy and fluffy on thr inside. The oysters were fresh, plump, and fried to perfection. The grouper was mild and had a great texture. The only weakness was the hushpuppies. They were golden brown with a good crust, but the centers were very dense. Service was great, but once we were done eating our server disappeared. After waiting for what was more than likely a shorter period of time than it felt, I ended up standing up and started to put my coat on, this finally got his attention. But that is a minor quip. I recommend this place hands down.

By far the best restaurant we have eaten at from North Myrtle to Surfside! The blackened Mahi Mahi was the best I’ve ever eaten! It had my daughter & I fighting over the fork. Make sure to try the ribs, pulled pork & those fried green tomatoes too (they had me coming back to Virginia searching for green tomatoes). Our waitress, Shay, took wonderful care of us & almost has us convinced to make the move to Surfside. We’ll definitely be visiting every time we make the journey back to the coast.

My first time going here but not my last. This is the best fish I have tasted so far here since being here. Great service and very nice and comfortable place to eat, even though I got my order to go. While waiting on my order to be fixed I enjoyed the atmosphere. Thanks

Very good service that is exceeded by the exceptional food. Drinks were tasty and affordable. I love the to go cups that are durable for year to come (I’ve had many over the years) River City cafe burger joint-sister restaurant to this one is my favorite burger place at the beach.

I hate to write a bad review on a restaurant that the food was great, service I felt rushed maybe because I’m Latina !!! The waitress come a few times do you need a box I’m like I’m still working on finishing the food cause delicious and again she came and ask the same question I gave her the same answer, then she comes with the bill no receipt well I ask her for a receipt I usually give 20% of tip when the food great, not this time. I left a tip. I felt discriminated so sad. I won’t be going there. It could’ve been a nice place to go.😟😟😟

After a few years of not visiting the beach and coming back thinking i was going to get the same quality of good from this restaurant, I am disappointed. I really talked this restaurant up to my family and was embarrassed. The fish is no longer fresh or authentic to the sea area. My flounder taste like it came from the freezer section of Walmart. The grouper was ok and the Mahi Mahi was bland. The quality and quantity has gone down at Bubba's. We used to have food left over, but now you barely have enough to be considered dinner. I would have much rather the price go up and maintain the quality and original portions than the price go up and value goes down. A great family owned restaurant has died.
