I was the Director of Operations for a very well-known family-run restaurant corporation before working as a paralegal, so I understand how many moving parts it takes to run a successful establishment.
This was my first visit to River City, and while the overall experience was warm, inviting, and marked by exceptional service, the food unfortunately fell short. We ordered two 10-piece wings — one all flats, fried naked, and the other tossed in buffalo sauce. I didn’t get all flats and they were not prepared as requested and were undercooked, requiring me to finish them in the oven. They were not good even after that. My husband, who usually eats every wing he orders, could only manage a few of his buffalo ones, which was disappointing given how much he praises River City.
That said, the house-made ranch and the French fries were absolutely fantastic, and the service truly stood out. The atmosphere while waiting was also very pleasant.
I still gave a 5-star review because I know how critical every department is in creating the full guest experience, and the team here clearly cares about hospitality. However, I strongly recommend revisiting how the wings are prepared they could make or break the meal.
I’m hopeful that next time will be different, because River City clearly has the foundation to be excellent.

this place has to only be open because of tourists. eaten here twice and also gave the location on 21st avenue a try to see if it was the chain or if it was the location. straight grease hamburgers, disgusting fries and somewhat trashy atmosphere which I believe is what they are aiming for. I would rather a Mcdonalds hamburger because at least you are not being overcharged for low quality meat. s

One of the best, if not the best, burger places within at least 10 miles. So many many Burger options and great view of the beach and ocean. If you don't give it a try, you won't know what you're missing.

We went for lunch and were fortunate enough to get a seat on the rear deck. Beautiful view of the ocean. Tried the cheese curds, and the chili cheese burger with a nice cold corona. Great lunch and views.

Stopped in for a burger with my husband and loved the vibe and atmosphere. Burgers were adequate and delicious, our server Jordon was fantastic and very attentive. The one stand out was this young lady Mackenzie who not only greeted us upon entry and sat us but never ever stopped working, clearing and cleaning then setting up tables along with greeting and seating new folks coming in. She held doors, kept her lovely smile and was just a delight to watch. Not often do you see a youngster with a great work ethic… very refreshing to witness!

First thing we do when we hit Myrtle Beach before we even check into our hotel is eat at River City Cafe. One of our favorite places. Our server Aaron was great. We will definitely be back during our stay a couple more times. Love the fried zucchini.

Found this gem while on vacation. Our server was so nice and patient even though we were a big group with kids. The fries and Reuben were so good and my friends loved their burgers. A great price for a vacation town too!

When I tell you I rushed to write this review, I mean it! I’m not usually a big red meat fan, but once in a blue moon I indulge, and wow… this was phenomenal. Everything was so fresh and flavorful, and the service was absolutely top notch. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with beautiful views that made the whole experience even better. True southern hospitality shines through here, and the menu is so versatile that there’s truly something for everyone. This is not a tourist trap, it’s a must-visit spot you won’t forget!
