Went for brunch. Beautiful views. I’d like to stay at the hotel sometime. Burger was excellent. The American breakfast was pretty basic, nothing special. Drink was good. I’d come back and try dinner sometime.

We've been traveling to the NC mountains for more than a decade and we just discovered this amazing, beautiful and delicious restaurant, only a 20 minute drive from Flat Rock. We started with uniquely crafted cocktails at the bar, prepared by the sweetest and most skilled mixologist - Coco! According to my husband, she made the best Old Fashioned he has ever had, and given how many he's had, that's saying a lot! Then we had dinner in the main dining room, surrounded by mountain vista views and beautiful decor. My pasta dish was amazing and the pork chop was perfectly cooked and juicy. Put Restaurant 17 at the top of your list!

We've been loyal fans of Restaurant 17 for over 5 years. Last night was an off night from start to finish. The regular bartender wasn't there, so my cocktail wasn't made properly. The servers were not as attentive and professional as usual. A glass was dropped, and our server walked away while I was discussing my order. I asked for a photo of our group and was told the server had no time and to ask someone else. Everyone seemed like they were in a rush although it was a pretty quiet Sunday night. From the ricotta dip to the pastas to dessert everything was just ok. I know this is busy fall foliage and wedding season and the Gran Fondo is next week, but every night should be a special night at Restaurant 17 and it clearly wasn't.
This restaurant came highly recommended from some friends, and it was definitely worth the drive! Settled in a beautiful boutique hotel. The service was fantastic and the food was unique and had great flavor and presentation. the menu is ever changing due to whatever produces in season and is sourced from local farms. We were celebrating our anniversary and they made a point to celebrate that and make us feel very special!
Perfect spot for a couple night.

My family and I have been here twice and enjoy coming here for the atmosphere and ambience primarily. We live about 15 minutes away off I-25 and like sitting outside on their patio, which overlooks the Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s gorgeous. We come during the week for their lunch service. The server is always very nice and hospitable. The food service is hit or miss though. They usually get at least one thing wrong. Such as grilled vs. crispy chicken fingers for my girls. Or forgetting to put cheese on the burger. Also, there are no condiments on the table so you have to ask for things like sides of ketchup or salt. It is more upscale though. The portion sizes are kind of on the skimpy side. But the desserts are very reasonable portions. My most recent visit I had the pork belly and it was amazing, but felt like an appetizer portion. The pumpkin cheesecake was amazing and made up for the lack of an entrée portion. I asked my girls how they felt about the desserts on a scale of one to 10, 10 being the best thing you’ve ever had. My 4 year-old said hers was a 10 and my 7 year-old said hers was an 8. I’d probably go with a 7 myself, really good.
Will we come back on special occasions? Yes. Will we pray that they get our orders right the next time? Yes. Will we get dessert? Most likely, yes.

We've avoided Restaurant 17 for several years due to 2 dining disasters in the past. We chose this restaurant this time due to its location central to my wife and I and our friends. Summarizing, everything was perfect. Cuisine was creative, beautifully plated, and nice proportions. The duck breast was the best I've had in the area. Service was pleasant and friendly (thank you Stephanie!) We'll be back again soon.
Visiting this place to celebrate something special seems to be a classic move for many, and I quickly understood why.
I came here for the first time to celebrate my birthday, and it truly felt magical. We were seated outside on a crisp fall evening, enjoying the fresh air while being welcomed by a courteous staff. The spot they gave us was perfect.
To start, we had the Buttermilk Ricotta Dip, which was solid, followed by the Octopus: well cooked and rich in flavor.
For entrées, my spouse chose the Duck Breast. It was tasty, juicy, and perfectly cooked, but the black rice that came with it was bland and lacking in flavor. My choice, the Steak Gremolata, was outstanding: juicy, tender, and paired with beautifully seasoned vegetables. Every bite worked.
Since it was a birthday celebration, the staff brought out a complimentary Tiramisu. It was a kind gesture, but unfortunately, the egg yolk flavor overpowered the chocolate and coffee notes.
Service was friendly at every interaction, though it was sometimes difficult to get our server’s attention. They seemed stretched thin, which didn’t quite match the level of the cuisine. That said, I imagine this was an exception rather than the norm.
Overall, I’d absolutely return. The flavors were strong, and the ambiance made for a beautiful evening.

Love this place for a nice date night spot or special occasion. It never disappoints! Highly recommend!!
We eat at nice restaurants. Periodically. This is one of the best meals we have eaten in years! I highly recommend it
Utilizing local resources, much of the food is farm to table. Hats off to the chef. Ribeye steak was best cut of beef I've had. All ingredients fresh. Cocktails made from house made syrups & infusions. All excellent.
