Best small town bar in the Midwest. I hate the bars in Sioux Falls so this is an amazing alternative. I always have the best time at the Nickel!

This is NOT a 💯 % recommendation for The Wooden Nickel. We first visited this establishment just over two years ago. We frequented it almost weekly for the better part of 1.5 years. It was good…the food is good & at the time the service was good. However lately…in 2024 it has been sub par. This year during Crooks days we stopped in…it took 15 minutes FOR ANYONE to walk up to our table and even hand us menus…and when she did she was on the phone talking to someone. We waited another 10-15 minutes and nobody came back to our table. In fact a table close to us came in after us. They got a drink order and a food order in. There were 2 people here during CROOKS DAYS and the car show! By this point we were fed up with waiting. I went to the bar and told the bartender what was up. His response was “I just got here.” Subpar service to say the least. Prior to this fiasco a week earlier I had reserved seating for up to 15 people for a surprise bday party for my wife. It started ok as I had ordered starters before the party arrived. However once everyone showed up it took over 45 minutes for any one (first person) to get their food orders. They were (2 people) under staffed! How do you not prepare when you know you have a large crowd coming in? IDK what’s going on here however we had spent a LOT of money in this place the previous 2 years before spring/summer 2024. Since Angie has been gone pretty much….bring her back. We have deliberately been avoiding the Nickel because of this latest subpar “preparation & performance”.

Gotta make this our Friday night dinner out place!! Coldest beer in town first of all ?!! I had the Chislic Special. It was all awesome and a ton of food. Meat very flavorful and super tender!! Wife had cheese burger and the fries were amazing as well. Price was very normal for our world today. Thanks for a great night out and keep up the good work! ?

Sioux Falls Building Maintenance
Love the place. But the food is definitely lost some MOJO. Since the price increase the food has gone down hill. My wife and had wings last night. Were practically inedible. Way over cooked. Over priced. Been there, 3 times in 3 months ordered the same with the same result. Friends came in last week for dinner and said call the owner!! They said we live in Crooks this has to get better.

The food is always fabulous. The staff is always friendly and are on top of getting whatever you need. We often do carry out and I am elderly and walk with a cane and quite often they will walk out to my car with me.
