I search for small town taverns like Baltic Corner when I’m traveling. We stopped in while heading north on a pheasant hunting trip. The beer was cold and the food was very good. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very entertaining. They were joking and laughing with us like we were regulars, not like someone who was there for the first time. This place is worth a short detour off of I29 if you are in the area.
This one was kind of tough for me because it was the other customers, not the staff. My wife and I stopped there for lunch on a weekday. The food was good. The waitress was nice. One annoying thing is if you want even pickles on your burger, you pay extra. It's extra if you pay with a card while we're at it. The only bad thing was some of the other customers. There were 2 tables of overweight middle-aged men. They must have had a belching contest. These were loud, deliberate,...
The bartenders are always very cheerful and ready to serve you..I walked only being there a couple of times, and they hollared hay girl..how are you..makes you feel like part of the group.
