This store is run by Joy. When we walked in, she greeted us and told us she has sloppy joes, chips, and tomatoes for lunch. It's a no frills dining experience, but the atmosphere is like having lunch with your grandma. The locals were all friendly and talked with us as we ate. We also got coffee and a caramel roll to go. I would recommend this gem of small town South Dakota to anyone who is in the Salem area. On Tuesdays are pie day, which are the most busy. I would come back if I am in the area again.

Also, the prices are unbeatable! CASH ONLY!

Joy was friendly, made you feel welcome. Like family. Service was good. She cooks and serves. Breakfast was good eggs, bacon toast and coffee. Other choices pancakes. Cash only. Plus she bakes cookies, muffins and zucchini bread. Zucchini was good had chocolate chips in it.

Joy is 74 and still running her own shop. Her pastries are delicious, and it feels like walking straight into grandma's dining room.

Locally owned and run by the same lady for 42 years. Will not disappoint. We need more places like this.

Before we could even sit down the cook told us she didn’t have any food for us, only her specials, we replied we would have one of the specials. She then told us NO, I have no food for you guys here…not sure if it was our home state of Michigan clothing she was offended by or what but what horrible hospitality!!!

Excellent home style breakfast! Pancakes are light and fluffy - the size of your plate! Eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked! Loved the coffee too! We highly recommend this place! The owner, Joy was a delight!
