Five stars not given lightly. I hit a few coffee spots in the area, and this one has the best coffee by far. No syrups or cream needed, especially their Colombian Supreme. Breakfast crossaint sandwich was simple, but good and the atmosphere is so great especially if you're trying to write, think, and relax.

Common Grounds is a lovely local spot with reasonably priced food options: not all the food impressed us, but the atmosphere and service was truly superb! The best item on the menu is the buffalo chicken wrap, and they have lovely peach tea :) edit: salmon sandwich made us ill, deducting a star

I love this place, but today was a bit off. I ordered a salad with a glass of water, and the salad was beautiful, but my water never came. I told someone that I never got my water, and when she gave me my water she rolled her eyes at me and had a very mean tone. The guy who was working seems to really like working here, but the girl seems like she doesn't like her job at all.

In Spearfish for 3 days meet another couple staying at City campground each morning for coffee. Enjoyed sitting outside having a morning coffee and a treat.

Great coffee shop in Spearfish. Everything you need.

UPDATE: Back in town summer 2024. Still everything you need. Good drip coffee. Had very tasty Monkey Bread roll.

The salmon wrap was amazing. The workers were friendly and fast. They have good coffee and even better food. They even have a kids menu and a play area!

Was traveling through and wanted something fresh and not fried. I got the buffalo chicken wrap and ate half there and the other half later in the evening. It was tasty but the half I ate at the establishment was full of chicken and red spicy sauce, light on the lettuce and bleu cheese. The other half I ate later at my hotel was just lettuce and bleu cheese, no chicken or red sauce. Like two different halves of the same order! My only suggestion is to make sure employees are consistent with the ingredients. It was really fresh but would have been better if evenly spread throughout

Good drink and food selection, with friendly staff and lots of seating (indoor and outdoor). The lavender latte I had was delicious as was the cheddar and jalapeño bagel. They were out of the chive cream cheese, so I got plain and it was good. My only critique would be that they really need to wash or else replace their front windows. When I sat down, they instantly drew my attention as they were covered in a hazy patina (dirt? scratched?). Would go back if I were in the area again.

I came here with my family and everything was awful! We got 3 breakfast items and 3 coffees. The breakfast items (a burrito and two sandwiches) were ice cold! The burrito was slimy and had salsa when they said it had tomatoes and it was so disgusting we sent it back and replaced it with a bagel and chive cream cheese that was also not great. One of the sandwiches was a bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant. The bacon was expired and disgusting, the egg was fake and rubbery and the croissant was extremely stale. The other sandwich was a sausage, egg, and cheese on a bagel and it was cold and tasted weird. The drip coffee was extremely watery and very weak. The cold brew tasted like water and cream not like a coffee. I had to send it back it was so bad. the latte was ok nothing special and it also had a weird taste. It was one of the worst places I have ever been to and I will not be coming back. The food and the coffee was awful and overpriced and the workers had no idea what they were doing.
I also think that they over charged me on the food and coffee!!???
