Cafe Brule has the most amazing food. The service was amazing and the atmosphere is great. I often order food from here for client’s and they appreciate the great tasting food.

Food was bland. Cook failed to season. Server never tried to make it right. It was reflected in the tip and we won't go back.

I can’t believe how bad they treat customers. Why are they still in business?
The owner chased us down in the parking lot and started lecturing us assuming we didn't leave a tip, but she was mistaken. The waitress came out to inform her she was mistaken and we left not only a tip, but a generous 25% CASH tip. Rather than apologizing to us she gave us a political rant. What a shame. Have decency, and apologize to people, especially paying customers when you make a mistake. We will never return to this or their other business.
Then attacks me again with lies, the tip was on top of the receipt on the table. Maybe you look then react to the facts and not chase them away for political reasons. Taxation is theft. Improve your place in society and pay them better . YOU can change society and pay a livable wage so we don't have too. Society should be a voluntary pact between us helping each other not forcing us to pay extra because you won't.
Continues to lie nothing was hidden on the table. I stacked my plates in the middle of the table with the napkins and silverware on top, wiped down the table and left the receipt next to the plates with a $20 bill underneath it and her pen on top so it didn't get taken by someone else.
Used to eat here or her other establishment once a week and never had issues until we met the owner. Will never set foot in her establishments again due to this experience.

Owner doesn't know how to apologize to someone after discovering she was wrong.
Edited your response? You call yourself an owner, but won't own up to your own words. Don't worry, I saved a screenshot for you! If your main goal was to make sure your staff didn't get underpaid, you should have apologized IMMEDIATELY when your server found the tip. But you didn't, and you admit that you didn't. You wanted to rant, to bring politics to your customers. Well here you go. Enjoy the taste of boot.

Mediocre food. Management that subscribe to the social contract theory. Can’t tell what leaves a worse taste in my mouth.
I visit family once a year in Iowa and South Dakota. I and three high school classmates have an annual tradition of meeting up at Cafe Brule. No trip is complete without our annual lunch. The food is always delicious, and the servers accommodating once understand the significance of our meet-up.

Had brunch here. There was a sort wait, but that is a testament to the good food, was seated and served. Good food and fast friendly wait staff.

Great service and food
I have visited Cafe Brulé about five times by now. The overall experience was quite satisfactory during the first four visits. However the experience during my last visit - on Sunday the September 1st - was less than satisfactory. I came in for a quick coffee and placed my order and also paid for the coffee immediately. The coffee was served after some 10 mins of waiting. However, I noticed that there was a small hair like fibre floating on the coffee and as a result I asked for a replacement. The waitress was courteous to offer me a replacement immediately. However despite waiting for 15-20mins, the replacement coffee never arrived. I had to go into the cafe again - I was seated outside - to ask for the replacement. After that the replacement did arrive quickly, albeit on a cup with coffee stains all over the outside part. The waitress did apologize for the delay and offered a free muffin - which I politely declined. To be fair, it was a very busy Sunday morning with a lot of customers in the cafe. However, I was quite dissatisfied and disappointed with the last of my five visits.

I was in town visiting my son, and we had an excellent experience at Cafe Brule for lunch.
Our server, Stephen, was warm, knowledgeable, and attentive. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the baked goods in the cases were eye candy. This is a "must try" if you're in the area.

Very good assortment of interesting choices. Food was very good. Took a bit of time to get, however. Wish I had room for dessert. Plenty of street parking. Bathroom was clean.
