I can get all the food groups here. Entree, soup, and dessert. ? I don't love being served on Styrofoam and plastic. But everything is so yummy, it doesn't stay there long. Sadly the trash gets Styrofoam. It's my only complaint.

While the sandwich was fine, it took 45 minutes for a sandwich to be made! A there were people who ordered after me who got their food first so I don’t know what is going on there but that is completely unacceptable. To make it worse, it was a veggie sandwich, we’re not talking about a 5 meat or something else absurd.

The hidden gem of not just Vermillion, but of South Dakota. Definitely best in town, and got to be close to best in state. Always absolute fire!

After seeing an ad in the SD travel guide a few weeks back, we knew we wanted to check-out Mr. Smith's. This morning, we decided to make the 2 1/2 hour drive from Omaha only to discover the location closed despite the Google hours showing they are open. BTW, it's inside a smelly ACE Hardware.

I have ordered multiple times through the website. It is a 50/50 chance if they even notice your order come through. On three different occasions they had not prepared the order. They ask you to wait 30-40 minutes on the website and I have waited 45 minutes to an hour and nothing. This has happened at different times of day, even during slower times. Please do not order online as you will not get your food.

Make sure to check out the bags with your sandwich order. Ordered a French dip, and didn't get the dip. Seriously watch the order.

Awesome food, not so awesome prices. The preorder menu is confusing and vague. A kiosk with order options (with selections limited to product) would solve this.

Parking: Park in the Ace parking lot, then go inside, turn to your right.

Anyone who knows me knows its not like me to take time and write a review.....and if you told them that i was they would ask you what was so horrible that i took the time to complain about....this review couldn't be farther from that....went to mr. smiths on morning break to get a sandwich...have eaten there a few times...never have had bad food...but today was from what i saw and experienced....above and beyond...lately i have been complaining about the rise in costs of things...a meal out being one of them...so when a person does splurge the extra money to go out....a person wants it to be worth their time and money...ive seen prices going up...and service going down....over and over again...but again...not the case today....for a friday morning the place is packed...the lady at the til meets me friendly...takes my order..great attitude...easy on the eyes...genuinely cared...see about 3-4 other employees behind her...all doing something...keep in mind this an open but pretty small kitchen....im patiently waiting for my food...looks like a newer kid running the grill...got another gal behind him...you can tell shes been there awhile...shes prepin his plates...watching him...making sure hes got the grill rocking with the right stuff....other gal is on other side taking care of the finished product by plating it or bagging it for the customers....other guy is behind all them...slanging hashbrowns and mentally maintaining the area...it was just a well oiled machine...they werent yelling at each other...had each others backs....worked great together...in the mean time...i see the baked goodies area...baked daily...til gal comes out...talks me into some banana bread (didnt have to do much arm twisting..i just didn't want nuts in mine...they got both) shes slanging baked goods....the other baker lady comes out with more goodies....the one gal covered the register without a blink of an eyes...15 people later...10-15 minutes later...i got my food...my banana bread and im heading out the door...get to car...take one bite...o....m...g...de.lic...ious!!! just nice to know that there is good customer service out there...with good food...for a fair price...and a good atmosphere...(yeah...inside a ace store) keep up the good work...thank you....if you dont go try something there...ur crazy...and yes...the banana bread was fantastic when i got home...????

Mister Smith's is a staple of Vermillion cuisine. I visited this place almost weekly when my husband was in law school 10 years ago. We were driving through and made sure to swing in this weekend. It did ?? not ?? disappoint ??

Admittedly I haven't started away from the sandwich options because 1) the bread is delicious and fresh and 2) you can endlessly customize. There is a menu of sandwiches but you can also build your own. When you arrive, you simply fill out the sheet of paper with your order and bring it to the cashier to pay.

Some of our favorites: big smith, chicken breast and cheese, club, Southwest chicken wrap.

Dine in has simple tables and chairs off to the side. It can get busy at meal times but the wait is usually reasonable.

You can also purchase a wide selection of breads, pastries/desserts, and pastries. Oh yeah, and whatever else you need because it's inside a hardware store.

10/10 recommend. I go back every time we are remotely in the area. It's definitely one of the best places to stop if in town, and don't forget to buy some bread to take with you.
