Mr. Smith’s is one of those unexpected gems you’re surprised to find tucked inside an Ace Hardware, right next to the appliance section, of all places. It’s definitely a hole-in-the-wall spot, nothing fancy or flashy, but the moment you take that first bite, you realize it doesn’t need to be.

The food is fantastic. Everything tastes fresh, homemade, and crafted with real care. It’s the kind of place where you end up saying, “I can’t believe this is inside a hardware store,” in the best possible way.

If you’re anywhere near the area (whether you’re shopping for tools or you're just hungry) Mr. Smith’s is absolutely worth a stop.

A true hidden gem of Vermillion. Right off the beaten path, hidden away in a hardware store. You would never know it's there unless you're a local. The place doesnt look like much but with home made breads, naked treats, and fresh sliced ham for their sandwiches you'd swear you're in heaven. Forget Paneras overpriced mediocre commercial junk. This is the place.
A college budget friendly place with great food. The seating isn't much but the soups, sandwiches and friend chicken is amazing with a reasonable price and the portions are amazing. I go there any time I can and recommend it to anyone coming through.

smith’s COULD be good. But instead, they have greatly disappointed me and my family. We went in for breakfast, and it was quite busy, but it is no excuse for the service we received. First, our order was messed up and I kindly told the cook (an older gentleman, in his late fifties probably). He got upset with me, and seemed to throw a tantrum because he was the only person working on the grill. instead of making my order correctly when i asked politely, he muttered something to the woman beside him (a woman who looked to be about thirty to fourty) and then he left the grill completely unattended. I stood there for about fifteen minutes before I decided to gather my family and go to a different place entirely. I normally would understand the frustration, but taking it out on a customer who just wanted her food made correctly, I find it very unprofessional.

Always the best...

I can get all the food groups here. Entree, soup, and dessert. ? I don't love being served on Styrofoam and plastic. But everything is so yummy, it doesn't stay there long. Sadly the trash gets Styrofoam. It's my only complaint.

While the sandwich was fine, it took 45 minutes for a sandwich to be made! A there were people who ordered after me who got their food first so I don’t know what is going on there but that is completely unacceptable. To make it worse, it was a veggie sandwich, we’re not talking about a 5 meat or something else absurd.
