Visited Watertown this past weekend, and my partner and I noticed the Sandbar on the way to our Airbnb. They had live music, so of course we had to stop in—and we actually ended up going twice.
On our first visit, everything was great. Service was fast, servers checked on us regularly (even with the Summerfest crowd and the hot weather), and the live music made for a really fun afternoon.
The second visit wasn’t as smooth. We wanted to sit outside and chose a table with dirty dishes left behind. The server cleared it but didn’t wipe it down, so it was soaking wet. After that, no one came back for 15–20 minutes, even though the place wasn’t busy and plenty of tables were open. When our server finally took our order, it still took another 5–10 minutes just to get water. The view outside was nice, but we got swarmed by mosquitos. As soon as our food arrived, we asked for boxes and the check and left without eating there.
The atmosphere is definitely fun, and our first visit was great, but the second left us pretty disappointed. Might give it another try, but hoping for more consistent service.

While visiting Watertown, SD, we visited the Sandbar twice. Both experiences were great! Service and food were excellent. It was nice to be able to bring our dog on the outside patio while eating. Thursday nights are karaoke, not typically our thing but it was entertaining. Definitely recommend giving this place a try!

It has been some time since I have visited it was very- mid at best- with that said, it was not really worth leaving a review in any capacity it did its job like any turn and burn summer spot when you’re hungry and looking for a pot to eat. However, as a reporter on Noem and the corruption within South Dakota I can say, they are a racist fascist, anti-immigrant hatful place not worth finding. The key to undermining a regime is to dismantle pillars and when you can’t strike at the foundation. This location is clearly a bigoted worthless pillar of the Noem regime-desperate seeking validation and therefore does not deserve your business.

They charge more on the bill than what the menu says. They also charge for individual ingredients of a menu item that lists as part of it. The Taco Salad is an example they charged $2.07 for the salsa and $1.55 for the sour cream. This on top of the $13.46 for the salad that was listed on the menu for $13.00. Thieves! Charged us over $5 extra from the menu prices that they say already include tax. Definitely don’t go here!

CHECK YOUR BILL!!! This place is a scam straight up. They put one price on the menu, but charge you extra. Our bill was $30 “with tax included on all prices listed on the menu”. That is until they charge you more than the listed price for each menu item AND charge you for individual ingredients in said menu items. Don’t believe me? Look at my receipt vs. the listed prices on the menu. They’re thieves. When questioned the manager just blew me off. Can’t wait for this place to shut down just like all the others that have been here before.
