My roommate and I decided to order take out from homesteaders in winner South Dakota tonight to treat ourselves before I went to work. On the phone I told the woman our orders and she repeated back to me exactly what I said. My roommate got a burger with fries and gizzards and that was fine. I got their top sirloin with two sides of fries instead of a side salad. The woman on the phone repeated back the two sides of fries and a medium sirloin. The woman on the phone sounded decent on the phone besides rushing a little bit but I thought that was because she was busy. They asked me to come in with the steak and I did so they could look at it. I cut into the steak and took ONE bite and didn’t have anymore because I knew it wasn’t done right. When I came in the woman slapped an itemized bill in front of me and told me to look at it. I told her I didn’t need to and we started speaking about the food. I told her it wasn’t done correctly and I would just like it to be made right. She was very very rude in person. She said they can make a new one but if I wanted it medium I had to ask for medium rare which makes no sense. I then asked about the extra fries and she got really defensive and rude yet again. She said she didn’t add it on the bill and there must’ve been a miscommunication because she never heard a second fry. I told her that’s fine it was a mistake but she immediately got upset and told me she did not make a mistake and this was NOT on her. After some ridiculous arguing back and forth I finally got sick of it and her attitude with me so I told her that yes she made a mistake and it wasn’t a big deal at first but now it is because I did not appreciate the attitude I was getting and the rude behavior in response to a civil complaint about something very simple. She then told me I could pay for a second fry and I told her not she can keep it because it should’ve been on our order in the first place. I then sat at the bar waiting patiently for my steak and when it was finally done the woman came over and without saying a word she plopped the box down and brought a man out with her. He brought the first steak I got out on a plate cut into and proceeded to lecture me like I’m a child about what a medium steak is in front of the entire restaurant. I listened for a minute before he told me not to come back and waste my time and his meat. I then told him they were both very rude and I didn’t appreciate the service I got nor the attitudes. Neither of them apologized even once about anything and I walked out of there. My advice is to not go here unless you want low quality food for a higher a price than it’s worth. The staff have almost always been rude to my family and I every time we go in. This time was more than just being rude it was unprofessional and nasty. Don’t go here it’s not worth your money.
Never a let down. Always awesome.
That was straight up gross. I wouldn't serve that for any amount of money let alone those insane rates. Bad service bad food and an attitude of like you're lucky to get fed. That's sad because I live in a town of 600 and have 4 places better to eat than whatever this reheated garbage for 28 bucks is.
I'm looking at the rest of these reviews and I'm like did we eat at the same place?
OVER PRICED.
microwave rice, chicken was over cooked.
the lady server was rude AF when my husband asked a question.
(I think she was the owner, dark hair)
couldn't belive the bill for knock off food.
we didnt try the steak.
probly would of went into debt if we did.
Very solid place to eat. Steak was cooked as ordered. Price was very reasonable.
Loved the steaks in this place. The bar has so much potential but unfortunately lacks a skilled bartender. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Seems to be favored by the locals.

So traveling all day, wanted to have a sit down meal. Staying in Winner. This place hit all for me. The food was fast, hot and good. I enjoyed Kung Pao Chicken. It was very good. Prices are fair and service with a smile. I will be back!

I was in winner on business and was looking for a steak dinner and found this place. I ordered the large cut ribeye and grilled shrimp and baked potato and a dinner salad and it was outstanding! The steak was such a great cut and it was so tender you could cut it with a fork. So delicious. The waitress was an amazing lady. She was such a kind soul and we visited when she came by a couple times briefly. It was so refreshing as I am from Nebraska I love the Midwest culture. My kind of people through and through. She was always so polite and friendly it was so nice to see a smile as I travel everyday for work I don’t get to socialize a lot so it was greatly appreciated. Thank you. The atmosphere was such a nice rustic wooden bar and had a few tvs mounted on the walls for games or what not. I really enjoyed my experience here and I would give it a solid 10 of 10 for a bar restaurant environment. Give it a try. If the locals frequent these places then why wouldn’t everyone else. Support local business!!! Midwest strong!!! Thank you for such a great evening. Submitted by Daniel Junck of Laurel Nebraska on 05/03/2024.
