When I saw this place it was as if the heavens were calling me the sun was lined up perfectly so the sun rays were guiding me to the restaurant. When I entered into the restaurant jimmy greeted me as if I was his own son it was like I belonged here from the start. When he gave me the menu it had all of my Favorit foods he was always checking on me the entire time so I always felt like I was being treated good by him. Then I saw the prices they were amazing they were better than the prices of Costco hot dogs i could feed 20 people for 120 bucks and have leftovers. When I was done the meal he gave me a very good amount of fortune cookies no to much but also not to little it’s like he was able to read my soul snd know how many I needed. After this all of the problems I had before suddenly disappeared and I became enlightened. When and if this is back open I would very much recommend going.

wonderful place. used to go with my friends but sadly they closed we all hope jimmy can come back with his wife to keep serving us and get well. food is very filling and tastes wonderful. jimmy and his wife's service was wonderful they treated us like there own family. food is cheap and we always got the buffet we thought it was very sanitary. most of these people with 1 star reviews are exaggerating everything and just hating. we all love jimmy like a great friend.

Stopped in Friday June 14, '24 about 1PM for lunch. Buffet looked ok, so we went with that.
One other table of 4 in restaurant that were finishing up, grabbed their flowers from the fridge and left.
I was facing the kitchen door, next to the door was the dish tub for dirty dishes. The, I'll assume owner, came out and cleared the table of 4, put the dish in the tub.
Just as I was finishing my plate, his wife comes out with a bowl and takes food, chicken balls, from the tub of dirty plates, puts them in the bowl, walks to the buffet and tossed them in!!!!
Told my wife what I saw, she spit out her food.
Get to the till, he said 'go have more' To which I replied what I had witnessed and how discussing it was, " That's OK, we've been here long time'
Probably happens in some restaurants, but never in front of the public, and not so casually as in we do this all the time.
Also, cash only, no signs to say that.
Email sent to public health.
So if your in Carlyle Sk, stay away from the Canada Cafe.

Smorg contained: Dried out tough drumsticks, mostly flour chicken balls, mostly grey colored veggies very hard to only pick out the nice coloured ones, egg rolls good tasting which was surprising, fried wontons mostly wrapper with little filling, white rice mixed with a bit of egg and soya sauce, and pork in red sweet and sour sauce. That was all the choices 7 items. Oh and only cash but no sign anywhere that says so.

We visit Carlyle a couple of times a year since my mom moved there. We like to try different places to eat. My husband wanted to try their chicken balls so we ordered a combo plate. Reminded us of the Uptown in Moose Jaw. The decor was straight out of the 60s. What was different was the way the locals connected with Jimmy and his wife here. Sometimes that is all that matters.

Me and my sister got the BLT, very disappointed, the bacon was still raw, the cup they gave me for my milk was dirty it had somthing on the bottom of the glass, really gross, my parents got the buffet and they said it was really gross. never again
