The Spot Restaurant and Lounge

I visited The Spot Restaurant and Lounge because I was told it was 'the place to be,' which is technically true when there are only three places in town. The decor has a very specific 'waiting room in a small-town clinic' vibe, but with more gravy. I ordered the poutine, and I’m pretty sure the cheese curds have been in a witness protection program since the 90s. The service was friendly, though the waitress seemed personally offended that I asked for a refill on my water.

Came for lunch while camping at the regional and would not return. The service was incredibly slow. Definitely not a place for a quick lunch as my sister had to get back to work and didn’t even have time to eat-had to immediately ask for to go containers once food finally came out.
One server seemed to be visiting with people while the other tried to keep up. Hard to say if the issue is the kitchen speed or servers.
Ambience was lacklustre but maybe nice if sat at one of the couple tables at the windows.

Unfortunately we had a horrible experience here. We arrived at 3:04pm and there was 1 other table here. We asked to sit outside and the waitress was rude off the bat. We were sat and 20 minutes went by with no service and no waters. We went inside to ask if we could get some waters, to which she replied she was busy. We waited another 10 minutes and still nothing. So we moved inside in hopes of getting service to which we were still ignored and eventually had to walk out after 35 minutes of being there and not even getting water or someone’s attention. Super unfortunate we really wanted to eat here, which is why we waited so long to give her the benefit of the doubt. Tables that were sat after we arrived where eating their food by the time we left.

Weren’t acknowledged at all when we walked in the door. Not overly busy looking. Not even a hello. Walked past us 5 times. We left :) Decent size bill ya missed out on.

Couldn’t tell you what the food or drink was like as we waited 15 min at the front waiting to be seated and weren’t even acknowledged.

10/10 recommend the spot! Karinne and her staff are always so kind and welcoming! The food and drinks are always tasty and the outdoor patio is a must in the summer!

Tried the spot at Bill Brecht Park and again at Humboldt Streetfest - it was delicious both times. I hope they continue to come to Humboldt.

Food was great, I had the ginger beef and it was delicious, lots of veggies and great ginger sauce. Service was quick and the atmosphere was quiet and nice. Would highly recommend

Honestly one of the worst meals we’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. Will not go back.

The lady that seated us was bordering hostile and extremely unpleasant, waitress was friendlier but there was only two girls working out front so mostly just got ignored after we ordered.

The $40 steak was salty beyond belief, broccoli was old to the point of almost being bad, “loaded” potato was nothing but cheese in a cold potato.

The ginger beef was so bad. The rice pilaf was a white rice mush, bok choy and veggies again looked and tasted like they were spoiled, and the beef was mostly tasteless.

Not to mention how dirty the kitchen looked from the quick glance I got. I’ve worked in my fair share of kitchens and for the price level of The Spot I would expect it to at least be clean.

I feel awful leaving this review but that’s honestly how bad it was
